@credulitykills - This was the second day of class that I missed so there was no time to tell her aside from the first day but at that point I was still figuring out if the course would fit my schedule (it’s a one day a week 3 hour course) So maybe if it had been the 3rd day or later I would have been able to provide advance notice. My CC started January 6th a week earlier than usual.

@2016Candles - I wish I had weeks to notify her. And sadly no she doesn’t drop one quiz/test/homework. Most professors do drop at least one of something.

My test is at 3pm we’ll see how it goes!

Also our college has a strict policy stating that finals my not be taken prior to the time listed on the final exam schedule, but she is still making the whole class take it early in violation of our college catalog.

An 83 is doable and I’m aiming for a 90

Okay I took the final!

I think I got a 90%

but the few I missed were very open ended.

Example: Tsunami waves get up to speeds that exceed _____ mph?

A) 30 mph
B) 130 mph
C) 65 mph
D) 435 mph
E) 600 mph

The correct answer to her is D - 435 mph.
I answered with B - 130 mph, and if you read the question A,B,C, and D are all factually correct :(

Hope it all works out Matt!

Personally, I think the prof was right. “Up to” and “exceed” are key to the question. A-C do not get up to 435 mph, and are not in excess of 435 mph.

I agree with fullload , but it sounds like you did well on the test congrats!

So speeds wouldn’t get up to and exceed 30 mph?

I’m so lost lol

@Annie2015 - Hopefully she said she’s posting grades tomorrow.

For her lab she really just skims stuff like I spent days on an 18 page paper with maps and pictures and information and she spent less than 2 mins looking at it and gave me 130/100 including the Extra Credit. But that’s for the lab not the lecture.

I would have got an A in the course but I took it P/NP so I don’t get credit for the A, it’s fine I’m satisfied with the grade.

@Matt4200

I would be so heated if a teacher spent 2 min looking at a paper that took me days to write. 18 pages?! I don’t care if I got an A, I would be like no b&%$# you are reading the whole gd thing.

@music1990 - My thoughts exactly.

She graded 26 of them in about 40 mins.

I put a note on mine saying she could keep it and use it as an example for the next class and slipped it into her box in the office lol

I don’t get that tsunami question…

@Matt4200

From what little I know of this teacher, she sounds so horrible. You’re the one who wants to become a lawyer right? If for some reason you don’t pass, you should use it as practice and try to do something about it. You could record your conversations with her or something and try to get evidence that she’s incompetent

Good luck with that. Pretty sure CA is a two-party consent state when it comes to wiretapping laws.

@k4201505

Recording a conversation is considered wiretapping? Even if it’s not on the phone…

@k4201505 - Actually recording over the phone (without consent) would be inadmissible and grounds for a counter suit so you’re right on that part, but if you were to record someone in person just audio it would be okay.

But that would be going very extreme,
I got a Pass anyways so I’m fine!!!

I figured you would pass.
