Congregate here. Much appreciated.

I love Radiohead. Best band ever. And I say that after listening to them for a meager two months.

Life changing, eh?

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thinks King of Limbs was a huge let down and possibly their worst album.

I definitely expected a lot more out of that album. Calling it a letdown is apt, saying it was possibly their worst album might be going a bit too far (but it’s definitely down there). I’d give that honor to Pablo Honey, personally. At least the B-sides off of TKOL, like Staircase, Daily Mail and Supercollider, were freaking fantastic (better than TKOL altogether, really).

Yeah, I didn’t like TKOL much. But 6/8 and tons of great B-sides is still a stellar record. And for those interested, my top three:

In Rainbows

OK Computer/Kid A (I really can’t decide between them.)

I suppose it’s difficult to follow up an album as great as In Rainbows (which is my personal favorite), but it wasn’t even close to being as good. I haven’t listened to any of the B-sides or anything, but I doubt my opinion will change much.

I actually haven’t really listened to Radiohead much at all in the past year or so. I was obsessed with them like 2-3ish years ago when I first heard In Rainbows, so I looked up and listened to all their other albums. They’re a good band but people over-rate them like crazy.

THANK YOU. They whine a lot. The music itself is pretty good though.

They’re great. I was actually talking to someone though about how Kid A is overrated. I would put it behind OK Computer, The Bends, Hail to the Thief and In Rainbows, probably, in terms of preference. And I agree, TKOL was a bit of a letdown.

KILL ME SARAH

KILL ME AGAIN

WITH LOVE

Except OK Computer which is a downright masterpiece, everything else by them either is inconsistent or just flat out sucks. The Bends has some redeeming values, but that’s about it. And for every good moment in Kid A, there’s an equally bad one.

And come on! Yorke’s whine is the best bored moan in the world!

The only thing I know about radiohead is that Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory doesn’t know who they are.

I dunno if you can call In Rainbows inconsistent/say that it flat out sucks, but to each his own. Also, retro, be quiet. ;)

On the note of favorite albums, does no one like Amnesiac? Severely underrated album. It’s as if both Radiohead and their fans refuse to recognize its existence.

Retrohippo has a strange taste in music. She likes a wide variety of things, but the most important quality to her is whether there is whininess present. Nevertheless, she misses out on a lot of good stuff.

I like Amnesiac a lot! It’s got some really amazing electronic sounds. As for the other albums’ inconsistency, I don’t see it with Kid A and In Rainbows. They’re just fantastic albums.

Also, this is CC Radiohead Fans, so retro and other haters don’t belong. You can make a haters thread if you want.

Gawd retro, stapp being a h8r.

I like radiohead. They are soothing, calming, and really haven’t been whiny in like 10 years. But regardless, I appreciate some whinyness every once in awhile.

Thom does not whine! Dem high notes are majestic.

The biggest problem I have with Radiohead is that I feel they try to be a bit too obscure/hipster-ish sometimes and some songs turn out to be just random sounds mashed together with really unidentifiable high pitched lyrics. I like their more traditional rock songs like Just, Karma Police, The Bends, Paranoid Android, etc. But that doesn’t apply to In Rainbows, I like that whole album for the most part.

How do you guys feel about The Eraser and Thom’s solo stuff in general? I remember really liking it, but it’s been a while since I’ve listened to it.

Edit: I just listened to The Eraser (the song not the full album), and thought it was really good.

I think Thom’s solo stuff did a fantastic job of focusing on what his voice is capable of. Really offbeat compared to Radiohead’s stuff but I remember really enjoying it (particularly the title song and Black Swan). I remember reading somewhere that Bjork suggested to Thom that he should make a solo album with soothing, “minimalist” beats to focus on his individual sound, and a few months later The Eraser was born.

I agree. Both of those songs are very good.

I’ll listen to the rest of the album later.

The Eraser is amazing. Jonny Greenwood’s cinematic scores are also worth checking out.

Maaaaan, I love Radiohead! Yorke is some kind of genius, but I think he may be going slightly insane at this point. They showed the 2011 SNL episode as a re-run this past weekend, and I was sorta confused. I think he was on something, haha. Like random shaking and stuff.

Anyway, OK Computer is my #1 followed by a three-way tie between The Bends, Kid A, and In Rainbows. I think The Bends has a slight edge though…

Yeah, I was a bit shocked by the SNL performances. They played good songs nonetheless. Has anyone ever seen their “From The Basement” sessions? They did one for In Rainbows and one for TKOL, both phenomenal:
