Radiohead.

Am I the only one who realizes how amazing they are? This is a serious question. Every time they're brought up in a conversation, no one knows who they are. If you haven't even heard of them, you're being deprived.

Fake plastic trees? Amazing.

Radiohead is the only band that’s as self-aggrandizing as Oasis, but all of their lyrics that I’ve heard are more inane and pointless, and their musical experimentation was made obsolete 50 years ago by modernist classical composers

Of course not! They’re extremely innovative, and anyone who doesn’t recognize this is obviously ignorant of their genius.

You lack the mental capacity to comprehend the symbolic meanings and subtle implication present throughout Radiohead’s work, but that’s okay—since you’re not a Radiohead fan, being mentally inferior is inevitable.

Yet another common misconception, brought about by people who are just incapable of understanding the difference between Radiohead and other bands. If you could understand Radiohead on a level that’s not entirely concrete, you’d see that they’re simply the most innovative musicians the world has produced.

Pointless to those who cannot comprehend.

Er…they’re pretty famous, so I’m going to answer your question, no, you’re not the only one who realizes how amazing they are.

No, you’re wrong. Nobody except me and other people with refined taste in music knows about Radiohead. I’m better because I recognize their superiority, unlike tasteless sheep who can’t appreciate their music.

Honestly, no one really talks about them where I live. It’s kind of depressing that Ke$ha is considered music these days.

^^Oh. Please forgive me. Now that you have shown me that I am nothing but a tasteless sheep, I can go on with my life. In fact, now, if I spend the rest of my life trying, I may be able to one day appreciate the awesomeness that is Radiohead. Maybe. But I am such a sheep that it may never happen.

^^^ So…by your logic, any artist could be called unknown because some people have not heard of them?

Radiohead is pretty popular, so quite a few people, like yourself, must have “refined taste.”

I bet you’re one of those hipster music elitists.

At least now you know.

I’m afraid you’re correct. I’m missing the hidden depth of these words. Perhaps the extended metaphor referring to hopelessness in modern society by comparing it, I’m sure, with the work of Gogol and Kafka, respectively, is something I am unable to connect to.

Don’t mind me though, I’m a pedant when it comes to artistic creation.

Kid A and In Rainbows are awesome.

Relatively unknown in my area. And why is this a debate? If you don’t even like Radiohead, why are you even responding to this thread?

Yes, I believe that’s the definition of “unknown”.

No, they’re not popular. I’ve asked every single person in the ninth grade, and only 2 of them had even heard of the band before! How can you call that popular?

I’m offended that you would make such an assumption after I’ve so clearly asserted my superiority.

Okay, comparison here -

Idlewild - fantastic band - have you heard of them? I personally have met zero people who have.

I personally know at least 40 people who have heard of Radiohead, and about fifteen who listen to them regularly. This latter figure is 10% of my graduating class.

You have to be kidding me…
they WERE famous and still are. And you do know that the band was made in like '85, right? People just listen to pop MORE now because of the overwhelming majority of Ke$ha and other trash on the radio. So no, you are not the only person to think Radiohead is amazing, just one of a handful in your age, assuming you’re a high school student.

So then, Lady Gaga could be considered unpopular because surely there is someone who has not heard of her?

You asked EVERY single student in the ninth grade? I feel sorry for you.
But I’m not surprised. Radiohead is more popular with a college-age crowd than high school freshies.

“Asserting my superiority” is the definition of elitist.

^ WRECKED.
Totally agree. What a pointless thread.

Parody and ■■■■■■■■ aren’t the same thing.
