I'm having trouble deciding what class to take.

I still need to take Math 122, but the teacher listed on the schedules are crap (according to rate my professors). So I'm not sure if i should wait another semester (that's if i dont get accepted to UCSD for next fall) or take it during the summer, or does it need to be finished before i transfer? I was going to replace that class with Math 119 (statistics) because I know one of the teachers are really good and maybe take that instead, so yeah.....IDK

O-chem has only two professors listed and only one of them is good, but the subject alone isnt easy so i would just have to deal. I was going to take a history class (US History pt 2). I already fulfilled all my GE requirements so I'm only taking it to raise my GPA. My predicament is O-chem and History are listed at the same time and on the same day with the specific teacher i want. Should I wait and take O-chem until I transfer or play it safe and take History and get a for sure A. I know if i take O-chem ill probably get a B in lab and maybe a C in lecture. Im just worried that my GPA will drop in the spring because I am applying this fall for UCSD. I would need to maintain a 3.0 GPA.

So any input would be helpful! Ideas, comments or suggestions?

PS:
Biochem/ Cell Bio major to UCSD
CC: San Diego Mesa College
3rd Year :/

Just wondering… why are you going into to O-chem assuming you will get a B or a C? It is very time consuming, yes, but it is not in anyway impossible to succeed in o-chem. That said, it is vital to understand o-chem for life science majors, so if you are dreading the thought of taking o-chem why are you a life science major?

I see posts like this all the time. Science majors complaining about how hard their semesters are going to be and asking if they should just take the easy road. Not to toot my own horn in any way, shape, or form, but last semester i took Calc 2, Calc based Physics and Cell Bio all together and recieved straight A’s while somehow maintaining a social life. This is part of what we must do as science majors. So I have two answers for you…

If you truly love science and you want to be some sort of life science major then go for it! Don’t be scared of classes just because of their reputation!

If you feel yourself leaning towards just taking the history class, i.e. the easy way out, maybe you should consider changing your major…

All the best,
~Tony

Yo Tony O-chem isn’t a cakewalk for everyone, cut her some slack dude! Then again…I dropped the class and changed my major, so maybe his advice does have some leeway ;)

before i read this i had decided to take O-chem!
thanks anyway…
