Hello, I would like to know if anyone could tell me my chances of getting into UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Texas-Austin, University of Wisconsin, and NYU as a transfer student

CC Student
Transferring for '14 Fall as a Junior
2 years at CC
Current GPA: 3.75 (some Honors courses)
GPA when applying: 3.8 (hopefully)
HS GPA: Horrible

EC's: VP of Honors Association, Director of IT and Treasurer of Business Club, Founded Honors Mentorship Program & Honors Liaison program, Circle K (volunteer club), Organize and Ran Food Drive for the homeless, PTK, Lacrosse, SAC (student athletic commitee), and Student Ambassador.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and If you reply thank you for your input.

What state are you a resident in? What major are you transferring in to? I think you have a decent shot at all of them. UNC-CH is definitely easier to get in as a transfer than straight out of HS if you are OOS.

I am from New Jersey, and Finance would be what I would like to transfer into. I can’t transfer straight into UT’s business school because they require calc 2 finished which I won’t have done by the time I want to transfer. So I would have to internally transfer after I transfer in. Same thing with UNC-CH and KF

Stern would be tough to get in to. Actually, b-school would be a notch harder everywhere. I’d look in to Ross, McIntire, Kelley, Mendoza and Carroll as well.

I figured they would all be harder to get in to. I’m okay with staying an extra year at the university if I have to transfer in and do a year and then internally transfer. But it’s funny that you mentioned those because I planned on apply to them all I just didn’t want to post a list of like 10 schools. So I just picked a select few. UNC-CH is definitely on the top of my list as an all around school. But I know I need to keep my options open.

For Wall Street, Stern, McDonough, Ross, McIntire, and Kelley (if you get in to their IB/IM workshop; not sure how possible that is as a transfer) are targets. The rest (of your list and mine) are more semi-targets (though I hear of K-F as a target, UNC alums just aren’t represented that well in M7 MBA programs or PE firms, unlike UVa, UMich, and Cal).

Funny you mentioned those because I planned to apply to all of them. I just don’t know my chances on the few you mentioned so I’m a little nervous. My CC’s honors program has an agreement with Georgetown so hopefully I can take advantage of that because Georgetown is one my dream schools. But thank you for your help I will definitly look into Northwestern!
