No, and I absolutely never will.

Don’t do either. However, I may drink someday (no drugs, though).

To those that smoke weed: How do you get away with it? Do your parents approve or something?

Never either except one time when I thought an alcoholic beverage was a milkshake However, it is truly a shame how young true drug abusers (only do them to get high, etc.) have gotten. Back in middle school, we had to have dogs search for drugs like twice a year. I’ve known kids who’ve done weed since 5th grade and openly talk about selling drugs on school grounds. Heck, a kid got arrested in 8th grade at the school (fun day). I just find this a shame, but some people do probably find the drug to help then relax, but I do think you should be at least 18.

-------------------------------------------If it is to be, it is up to me…

Never done drugs, though I’m not opposed to them and may try them at some point.*I drink pretty regularly when school’s not in session [not willing to get caught/expelled for that].

I don’t want to be mean, but why else would you do them?

And also, I really don’t think weed or alcohol affects your intelligence very much. At my school you really can’t tell who does and doesn’t based on their grades.

^I could cite about a million sources saying that drugs and alcohol (or at least the abuse of such substances) do, in fact, cause brain damage and, thus, a loss of intelligence. But I won’t, because I have work to do. Of course, some occasional drug use isn’t going to make a genius an idiot, but you can’t say it doesn’t affect your intelligence very much.

EDIT: Did you mean to say that you haven’t found a correlation between intelligence and drug use?

^^ I personally smoke weed to relax, unwind and to fall asleep and sleep deeply.

@StudiousMaximus: My dad doesn’t know. It’s really easy to hide if you know how.

Too broke for cigs and too allergic to alcohol

I don’t do any drugs or drink.

Though… I may start drinking soon.

cigs aren’t drugs :b

I don’t want to ever drink or do drugs because quite honestly, I do not like the idea of doing anything that will alter my mind. It’s creepy. And plus, the younger you start doing drugs or alcohol, the more likely you will become addicted. Especially with me, because my dad is an alcoholic.

Can I just say that I feel as if a lot of people today have been brain washed. There are tons of smart people who drink and do drugs. I’ve heard people say that over 75% of people at Ivys drink, and in addition to that, there are a lot of them that smoke (pot). Look at brown for example, a school with a reputation for weed usage. Another thing is, with all these health classes people are forced to take they are brain washed, and unless you’ve been drunk or high you really can’t understand what it’s like. I’m guessing that a bunch of the people in this thread who say “never” will start in college, or before.

I kind of think the reason why weed is condemned so badly isn’t for health and public safety reasons, but because tobacco companies would lose out etc etc

I have never drank or done drugs but I want to try weed some day.

Neither and I don’t plan on doing either one in my life

I have had a little alcohol but never any weed. People who do either on a regular basis shouldn’t IMO.

With regards to the people I know, the ones who enjoy a drink or two are also the ones who are most interesting, intelligent and it’s enjoyable to spend time with them. Of people I know who don’t drink at all, more of them are dull, struggle socially and not quite as switched on.

Not a conclusion, merely an observation.

I come from a school where drinking, clubbing, and smoking is very common among students. Even the quiet, nerdy ones. Drugs, not so much, I don’t think. It’s very easy to get fake IDs here, and frankly, the bouncers and waiters/waitresses couldn’t care less about how old you are. So, I’ve drank a few times, sometimes more than I should. I’m not a big fan of hard liquor, so I could never see myself becoming an alcoholic. I’ve never done drugs before, and I don’t plan on it.

And just FYI, my school is extremely rigorous and people do go to pretty high ranking universities.

I have never done drugs and I really don’t plan on it either.

I did try drinking the beginning of my sophomore year, but I got caught by my parents, and I’ll never do that again now. >.> Haha. :p

@djamieson: That’s just ridiculous. So NONE of the people you know who drink are average to stupid with dull personalities? They’re all highly intelligent? It’s hard to believe that such a strong correlation exists anywhere. Are there not jocks who drink all day and get poor grades at your school?
