american lit and culture at UCLA, english at Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz.
-3.95 GPA
-IGETC certified
-phi theta kappa, dean's list
-worked part time till this semester, currently tutoring at the writing center (been doing it since fall)
-all major requirements complete this semester for ucla, hah, berkeley....yeah not quite, but im not too concerned with going there
-TAP certified

I figured american lit would be a far better focus for me since I feel like I gain more from modern literature than other areas. Ha, it's also awesome that no one wants this major, given that it is very similar to an english major. I am, however, having my doubts about attending UCLA since it sounds like the place is loaded with "cut-throat GPA mongers," which I feel is a terrible learning environment since you start to lose your lucidity when concerning literary texts. I would rather be more concerned with the meaning and interpretations of a text than with the jerk who will screw up my grade. I'm thiiiiiiiiis close to going to santa barbara or santa cruz. THIS CLOSE.

hey guys I have a question:
I am majoring in cs and engine for ucla. however i dont complete the whole physics series at one community(still one more left) that the assist.org has told me to do so. so does that mean they will reject my admission??from last year my friend didn't complete the last semester of physics finally got rejected even though he had 4.0 gpa...

^i can understand a sem of no physics, but the sounds of "whole physics series" sounds very discouraging, especially when ur competiting against other ppl that have the whole series complete, 3.5+gpa, etc..

How's it going everybody,
I received a phone call from somebody at UCLA today inviting me to apply for a transfer scholarship. Has anybody else received this call??
I'm wondering if they are calling only those who will get in, or if they are calling everybody.
Also, are there anymore history majors applying to UCLA or UCB??
My stats are listed in the first post in this thread...
Later.

biochemistry to UCLA, Intergrated Biology to UCB...3.7 GPA, finished all requirements...including all physics, biology, and o-chem...IGETC certified...lots of EC and hoping for CAL...although i heard that CAL accept more 3.8 and above =(...this sux...but still crossing my fingers and pray everynite...

Hey everyone. I am wating for UCB and UCLA (both biochem & mole bio) and accepted to UCD (the same major). I am an international student and not even staying in CA now. So I am a little bit worrying about UCLA and UCB.

I have completed the required courses, Ochm1,2, Bio1,2, Cal1,2 Chm 1,2, and English1,2 and etc, which are just listed on UCLA web site. Yet, I could not finish physics 1 and 2 for UCB. ( I didn't even know those are requirements until I filled out the MyBerkeleyApplication) Moreover, UCB requires me lots of things that are not available to me because I am not in CA. I heard that UCs are very strict to the prerequisits, specially UCB. Therefore, I am sure that I cannot get into UCB even 4.0 gpa and other things, but hopefully UCLA.

I got accepted to Ga Tech (BME) and UW-madison (Biochm) for the next choice after the rejection from UCLA. I really hope everyone here can get into UCB or UCLA!!

Political Science @ Cal and UCLA. 3.35 GPA, one prereq course missing for both, IGETC. EC: president and founder of a political club, lifeguard/swim instructor, and more political EC.

Accepted: UCSD (most likely not going there because they don't have residence halls for transfers), UCSC (most likely not going there because they aren't big on poli. sci.), UCD, UCSB

applied to UCLA and Irvine, 3.8 All my reqs will be done by this semester I just have one more to complete, TAP, IGETC, Honor Society, few other EC's...

awesome
Applied to Cal, UCLA and UCSD
GPA: 3.5
TAP, IGETC certified, Prep work complete
Honors Society, Student Gov and work 10hrs a week
So far i have heard from UCSD Marshall

Finished all major requirements (except Physics which is just "recommended" for Cal; ahrry1984, take note :)), no IGETC, 3.54 GPA. PTK, volunteer work, decent Personal Statement.

And will have been in CC for three semesters only (started Spring 04)plus one summer by the time i transfer.

CCCT, for integrative bio at Cal, i heard that they actually accept as low as 3.2's, 3.3's. same thing for MCB. this i learned from the berkeley ad com rep who comes to my CC once every semester. so don't give up just yet! i have a 3.54 and while i don't like my chances, i'm holding on to hope :)

oh...that is certainly news to me, "biochemist12." Thanks. Now I feel a little bit better for UCB. I hope we all of here can get accepted to UCB~~~.

i just hope that everyone in here gets into Cal...Cal is so random...just crossing my fingers, and i will definitely pray for everyone in here...good luck you guys....

-Political Science
-IGETC
-all recommended coursework finished for LA and Cal
-3.8 GPA
-Wrote a decent essay
Will enroll at UCSD if I don't get into LA or Cal.

I have a question....how many units do we need to complete to get our bachelors (after transfer)? Does it depend on major? Is is 60?
Are they all upper division classes for our major?
~Good luck to everyone~Hope to see you guys on campus FALL '05!

By the way, from the same Berkeley adcom rep - Cal will try to have decisions posted as early as Friday morning. She also mentioned that they usually do it in the evening, especially for HS students, to keep them from cutting class in the morning. But for transfer decisions they don't care about our attendance record as much, lol.
