There are many courses available this summer at my local community college that can be applied to my major in public health. Some are online but I'm taking an online course during Berkeley summer sessions that was approved so I figure online courses are all good? Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a limit to how many units I can take at a CC that will transfer over and if they will be for letter grades..can I take a good majority of my lower divs there? Also, if I received a NP for a course at Berkeley do I have to repeat it at Berkeley or can I make it up at a CC? Thanks

public health… pre-med or not?

Since it’s close to the MCB/IB majors… if you take too many at a CC… it’ll be harder for you to catch up later on.

Also, if you’re applying for Med School, the answer is a definite no. Don’t take any pre-med/science classes at CC if you’re considering Med school.

However, it may be a good idea to take some of the less essential or breadth courses at a community college. I think Public Health needs 3 social science courses such as Economics, Cultural Anthropology and Sociology. These may be better classes to take at a CC. Just make sure that the credits transfer (assist.org)

As far as the number of units you can take, just remember that you will have to do an equivalent of 1 years worth of work in a shorter period of time, so taking too many courses may be disastrous. I think the norm is 2-3 classes, but if you feel like you can handle it, by all means take more classes :). Social science courses aren’t as difficult as technical courses anyway. (Your Mileage May Vary, however)

I’m not pre-med, and they’d be some social science courses and probably math 16b. Thanks you guys so much for the advice!

If I’m a integrative biology major, not pre-med but I want to go to grad school, is it unwise to take chemistry over the summer?
