CC Underrated Schools

University of Texas and University of Florida!

"It's always best to consult the primary source. When looking for Michigan's acceptance rate, why consult College Board and US News first?"

Because the amount of statistics on college websites varies?

Most state & liberal arts schools
Rice

What about the University of Washington?

One school that is coming increasingly on the radar screen is U Richmond. IMO, it is definitely underrated, but is fast rising due to having a ton of money, excellent leadership and possibly the prettiest campus in the USA.

In the LAC universe, I think that U Richmond has the potential to be in the USWNR Top 25 within in the next decade. I would definitely consider it as a current peer to more recognized places like Colby, Hamilton, Colgate, etc.

Union College! It is in the top 50 LAC.
Almost was an Ivy League too.

Cornell University. Poor guys..

University of Pennsylvania, although they have a great football team.

Tufts, Wake Forest, Rice, William & Mary, Georgetown, Davidson are all underrated.

Georgetown is underrated? I think not.

The University of Kansas, The University of Missouri, and Kansas State are all really good schools that rarely get talked about.

I couldn't agree more with this post. If these three schools were located somewhere other than Kansas and Missouri, they would get more attention. All three have excellent programs in a variety of majors, they're bargain priced, and their respective college towns (Lawrence, Columbia and Manhattan) are great too.

i personally think think Georgetown gets a lot more respect in the real world than it does on CC. same could be said for Duke and Northwestern. on CC all three schools get labeled as "party schools" but the job prospects out of these schools are ivy caliber.

I think New College of Florida is pretty underrated. It has phenomenal professors, many of its graduates go to top grad/professional schools and they are number two in the country for Fulbright Scholars per capita. Also, its a public and offers a lot merit-based which makes it quite affordable for both in-state and OOS.

Harvard College

poor guys

Rice is underrated because most northeastern students have no idea that Texas could have a top 20 university. The only southern schools that people at my school know are emory, wash u and duke. Other than those three nobody ever applies to schools in the south. Regional bias is probably one of the largest factors in why a college is underrated.

I am an alumni...but I have to ask: How is Penn underrated? I think they are 'rated' appropriately by most accounts. I think there is little difference between schools in the 'top 10' or so anyway.

And they didn't really have a great football team this year: College Football - Standings - Rivals.com

MIT

those geeks need some lovin'

This one is so underrated that it doesn't even have a forum on CC: University of Tulsa. One in 10 undergraduate students is a National Merit Scholar. Division 1 athletics, generous financial aid, half the students are out of state and yet is is non-existent on the CC boards.

Florida State is Waaay underrated, by prob. 50 slots.

U-Florida is underrated by ~10-15 slots or so.

SUNY Oswego is also underrated by 200 slots by virtue of the fact that I'm an alum.
