CC vs CSU??! Which one is better in the long run?

So I need major help (and maybe counseling). I didn't get accepted to ANY UC. Yeah, pretty bummed out about that... So now I am considering CC or CSU. Will it be better to go straight CSU or to CC and transfer to UC? The thing is I really don't want to go to CSU (SJSU) because once you go in you never come out. But if I go to a CC and transfer into a UC, will I do well in a UC? Well enough so that I can get good grades to go to a good graduate school?

Please give me advice. I've been arguing with my parents about it. They think I should go to SJSU and get super good grades so I can graduate and go to a good graduate school. But for me, I don't really want to stay in San Jose. Is the difficulty of the classes of a UC very high compare to a CC? Because I think I can get a 3.5 in a CC. Which one will benefit me in the future?

“Because I think I can get a 3.5 in a CC.”

If you are sure about that then CC would be a better choice.

People from both CSUs and UCs get into graduate school. And people who transfer from CCs to UCs can do well.

Once you are admitted to a graduate school, it won’t matter whether you went to a CSU or a UC.

It sounds like you want to go the CC to UC route. This may be the less expensive option, particularly if grad school is in your future. And it’s a fine option. Just make sure you take classes that will transfer to the UCs.

I work at a UC and we have many transfer students from CC’s and they do very well – I think it is a good option and also a cost saving option.
