CC vs UC to UC

i'm a student at UCM and i was planning to transfer to another UC after my second year. I've been talking to some people and they said that I should transfer to a community college and then transfer back into the UC system instead because ccs offer TAG programs and priority. On one hand, staying here provides many classes and opportunities you can't find at ccs but cc seems like a safer way to transfer even though its more troublesome.

I'm on the fence and I would really appreciate any tips or opinions on whether I should stay here and then transfer out to another UC or if I should transfer to a cc from UCM after this year and then transfer to another UC.

why would you transfer out of UCM?

…

j/k

why did u go to ucm… jk
i think cc will be easier… like higher gpa etc…

Depends on your major. If you’re aiming for extremely competitve majors stay at UCM. If you’re aiming for a relative easier to get into major, drop out of UCM now, and start at CC. You’ll have great chances at entering Top UCs with a decent gpa 3.4+

My major is bioE. I’m aiming for mainly Davis and Irvine… Berk, LA, SD if I’m lucky. My gpa here is 3.8.

@UCLAtransfer - It’s the only one I got into :frowning: I had a decent GPA in high school, 3.65UW and took 8 ap classes and did fairly well on the tests. Had extra circulars (sports, volunteer, work) I thought I was gonna make it to Davis and this was my backup.

@liek0806 - why should easier majors get into CC?

does a 3rd nipple count as an extra circular?

UCs give priority to CC students, and with easier majors(to get into) the acceptance rates are in the 65%+. I didn’t do tap, but I’ve read others on here say that acceptance rates with tap are in the 90% to ucla or ucb(i think it was one of the two) assuming your major isn’t impacted.

BioE is pretty competitive, is there anything I could do to increase my chances of transferring?

TAG/TAP but that’d require you to goto CCC.

any more advice?
