CC vs. UC vs. Self-Study for CIS/MIS/IT major?

Currently at a CC but trying to determine which type of school will offer the most job prospects/advancement in the near future for: Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology and Software Development. I would like to attand a UC but it looks as though not too many UC’s offer these majors. Any advice?

p.s. I was leaning towards Cal Poly, mainly for the name/rep but was told it won’t hold much weight in the IT world (and it’s not like it’s CIT).

Knowing your GPA and other interests would help.

I will say, Cal Poly SLO has an outstanding rep among employers but, is a near impossible transfer destination for non-local CC students. The campus has room for few transfers and,

There’s no harm in going the ‘build your major’ route at a top UC if you can get in. TAG opens doors for most majors at the other UCs. Just look at their course catalog and be sure they offer the courses you’ll need to complete your studies.

For a degree like CIS, most CSUs have very solid programs. Depending on your stats and other interests, SDSU,SJSU, CP Pomona, CSULB, Fullerton, SF State, Chico, and Sac are all worth a look.

Cal Poly SLO has about an expected transfer acceptance rate for Bus Admin with a concentration in Management/HR and Information Systems around 17%. Their program is highly regarded but you should look at the other CSU’s listed by @NCalRent to see if their curriculum’s are better suited to your pursuits.

Great advice guys, but I meant Cal Poly Pomona as CPSLO doesn’t offer this major. Do you think I could create this major at a UC with the ‘build your major’ method?
