Daughter received CCI grant. If she upgrades, it will cost a couple of hundred dollars. Is the 4 year Safeware Insurance Plan for the 13" in MacBook Pro Retina worth the money. It’s over $400 which would bring the total cost over 2G’s.
Happy she got grant, but want to maximize it and not end up spending more.
Just wondering if anyone has an experience they can share regarding the CCI and coverage. Thanks.
Daughter just had a major crash with her MacBook after three years of heavy use. They replaced the hard drive and various other components along with installing a new keyboard & the external case (fancy Apple aluminum). She had a loaner while it was repaired and the total deductible was $100. Technician said she now has a mostly new computer. Hope it makes it through grad school…
Like most insurance it is worthless until you need it. Can you afford to replace/repair the laptop if need be?
My daughter has a Lenovo laptop. It fell of her lofted bed. Cost us the $100 deductible to repair. Hate to see the bill for the full cost. It was nice to be able to tell her to drop it off at the computer center and get a loaner. Fixing computer problems long distance is difficult at best.
Overall, I would recommend it if you can afford it. When a laptop fails it is a real problem if you don’t have a backup computer. If you don’t get the coverage, consider buying a cheap used laptop for backup.
FYI, I also thought it expensive but at this point it was worth it.
