Does anyone know when we're going to find out if we got in for MT? :)

It should be withen 2 weeks, usually mid to late march, at the latest early april, but that is usually only MFAa that take that long, so it should be this this week or next! Good Luck!

definitely soon.....keep an eye on your mailbox, they send out all their stuff (yes/no/waitlist) in pretty close succession.

Best of luck!

BTW, I notice you are from Indiana! Me too! what part?

So i noticed that on almost every single thread i read the conversations evolve from the original topic of the thread to the overly discussed topic of the top ranked musical theatre schools. People need to get a grip on reality. It is really disheartening.

^ although now the conversation is tamed. this comment was left more in reguards to pages 1 and 2 well most of this thread haha.

I'm assuming there is little room in this program for a minor/double major. Correct?

when do you normally audition to these schools for MT during your senior year??/

Yes, Nate, you audition during the fall and into the spring of your senior year of high school. Unless I am mistaken, most kids are finished with their auditions by mid-March, though I trust those who have been through this (and my D has not -- yet!) to correct me if I have this wrong.

Quick question. On the website for MT one of their audition options was BFA Musical Theatre: Non-Unified/ In-House. Does that mean it's on campus and not at the Unifieds?

I wasn't paying enough attention to what someone told me. They said Roosevelt talked about one of the theaters, on campus or nearby I think, but they get absolutely zero usage of it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

This same person told me they didn't think Roosevelts instructors are quite at the level they are happy with yet. Comments?

One of the attractions of going to Roosevelt is the proximity of the theater district and the chance to work among the professionals there as well as students from other schools. But is this a realistic opportunity for all students or only a select few if any?

We ARE allowed to audition for outside shows...once you aren't a freshman at least. And you do have to get it approved. And the Auditorium building is not OUR theatre..it's very close by and it is an Equity house, so we aren't allowed to use it.

My opinion of Roosevelt is much more positive today. I've received inside information (not to sound too mysterious) from three very different but theater related sources and I now have reasons to have the utmost respect for the program there.

To those who read this at a later date and are considering attending this school, you can rest assured it is a very good choice and worth being one of your top considerations.

it's on my top list!

A question about cuts. Although Roosevelt doesn't have a cut policy, are some students just not invited back for any reason? I don't mean the ones who don't show up for class and don't complete assignments or homework. I'm aware of other schools where you can not get invited back because one of the instructors didn't like you for some reason or thought your progress was a little slower than they wish.

People are usually asked not to come back if the teachers believe they either aren't working hard enough, have caused some problems/have a serious attitude and have not tried to change it once confronted about it, not going to class/failing more than one class is a big one. You're always put on probation before cut, you are never asked to leave out of the blue, you will have knowledge of it.

How many have not been asked back from your class? Do you know the reasons?

My question is about the dance program at CCPA, how many dance classes does a freshman attend each week. I have heard that students take extra classes at Lou Conte Studio - why is that necessary? Who teaches the dance at CCPA?

All classes are taken at Lou Conte, depending on your schedule, you can take up to three different classes a term, and they are held at different times during the week. You are required to attend 14 classes a semester to pass. That's one a week at the very least.

Belle,
Thanks so much for the response...so, is ONE class a week included in the tuition and then if you take additional classes you pay "out of pocket"....that's where I'm confused and we are working out a budget.
I look over Lou Conte Studio on the website, it looks like and exciting place to learn dance.
My D is excited about her CCPA acceptance.
Thanks.

Belle,
Perchance you were at "Lefty" last night?
