Cell phone coverage

DS will be a freshman at Tufts in the Fall. We have Sprint cell phones -- should we anticipate any reception problems? Which cell phone companies get the best reception there?

Don’t know for sure about Sprint, but most people here have AT&T or Verizon. Tufts isn’t Ithaca, NY though; Sprint will probably be fine.

Anyone else with anything to say about Sprint? Our contract is up in August/September, so if Sprint doesn’t work well at Tufts, it’d be an OK time to change carriers…though Sprint is definitely our cheapest option.

My son has t-mobile - we hate it from our end, but there haven’t been problems on his side. (Unfortunately we have a fantastic data plan.) We had Sprint years ago and never had problems in the Boston area.

I have Sprint, and while I don’t survey all my friends like TuftsStudent, I know plenty of people who also have Sprint. I’ve never had any issues with it.

Thanks, all – this forum has been helpful. I think we’ll stick with our Sprint plan for the moment.

So – a year later, we are back to asking the same cell phone coverage question. Sprint was not bad for our son at Tufts during his first year, except inside his dorm. We’re considering switching to T-mobile now. Does anyone know what the coverage is like in Boston in general, and at Tufts in particular?

BTW, we now have Verizon and it works much better than T-mobile did. All over New England for one thing, and less dropping calls.
