I don't know if all of you are aware of this, but by verifying your email address with many service providers you can get a discount on your monthly plan. The links may say they're for employees, but simply having a .edu from certain schools (so note it may apply to you if you aren't a student at Cornell) will work regardless. I have verified the discount for both verizon and At&t discounts. You should find links on the pages after authenticating to link your current account to the receive the savings.

Verizon: 19% off your monthly plan rate and 25% off accessories and other discounts.

ADDITIONALLY: At&t customers, after having activated your account with the email, you can call up and try for a couple other deals that are offered to these "corporate" accounts.

Call 1-800-331-0500 (customer service) to try and get these deals added.

Code for 1500 Text Message B2B (does not include picture) - TMS4 - $8.99
- Call and ask the rep to change your texting plan to TMS4. You shouldn't have much trouble with this one. Most reps have no issue adding it for you.

Code for 200 bonus minutes on your monthly plan - u200 - free.
- Call and tell the rep that your boss told you to have them add the U200 code to your account. This one is extremely hit or miss, but if you get lucky they'll add it.

If you have any trouble getting these extra codes to work you can always argue with them or hang up and call back for another representative.

Thanks to the users "Phasers" on slickdeals.net for the at&t promotional codes.

Sure does. You just gotta sign up and follow the links. I forget where they are exactly, but as agbm said if you’re with at&t use the link for IRU.

just looked on at&t for the specific links, after registering and getting your email verification, you’ll get a link to the discount page. Click on “Cornell IRU Employee Benefit”

When the page loads you should see somewhere midpage a box that says:
Already an AT&T Customer?
See if you qualify for discounts
Click “Discounts Registration”

Has anyone actually tried the verizon employee discount? Because on the very last few pages of checkout under customer information, it requires an employee ID. I want to use this discount, but Im afraid that the employee number I randomly enter will give the actual employee access to my credit card number…

Many credit cards like Citibank have virtual account numbers. I just generate one, use it on this discount, then delete the virtual number so it can never be used again. Voila; no worries.

Wow thanks! yes it seems this discount will work for existing verizon customers. I just logged into my verizon account then clicked the link provided in this thread and the page changed to allow existing customers to provide their .edu address.

I’ve submitted my info and it said “we’ve received your request…” I’ll have to see if it applies any discount to future monthly charges.

It’s not working now… the email they sent me has a link, and when I go to it, the only thing it says is “Invalid url”. I entered my email 3 more times and it sent 3 more emails, all of which are invalid urls. Now what?

this is great! especially since verizon always on our bill every single month. i’m existing and i just registered my line with this discount (didnt buy a new phone or change plans or anything) and it worked! i didnt have to put in an employee ID number. maybe thats why.

i logged in my v account and it immediately said i received 19% off
