During my APUSH test, someone's cell phone rung twice. The test proctor had to find the girl's purse with her phone it in, and take it out into the hall. The situation has been filed and reported to collegeboard.

What are the chances of our room's scores getting canceled? Has this ever happened to anyone else?

that's pretty bad. I wrote an article about the test security, and the testing coordinator told me if a proctor catches someone breaking the rules the whole school could be punished. She said that the school might not be able to administer the AP exams ever again. However, she didn't mention anything about cancellation of other people's scores.

thats awful if the whole room is cancelled, let alone the GIRLS SCORE be cancelled is bad enough.

their cell phone policy shouldnt be that anal.. if it rings and no one picks up.. so what? if a girl is calling in the middle of the exam, then thats a problem

Ooh, someone's cell phone went off at least six times during my AP US History test. During break the problem was solved and the proctor gave a lecture about the necessity of cell phones being off. He said that if the phone were to ring again during the free-response section, he would have the scores cancel. It didn't ring.

While the ring was VERY distracting for many of us there (just like a guy's squeaking in his chair grated our nerves duruing the AP Chem test today), I would see score cancellation as unfair. True, the testing enviroment was disturbed, but to a minimal degree. No one was cheating... shrug I'm biased; I just don't want my score cancelled.

Well, I've never heard of it actually happening. However, according to that long thing they read at the beginning, violation of ANY of the rules is grounds for cancellations of all test scores.

Hopefully collegeboard will be lenient, especially considering it wasn't answered.

That happened to me too during the Psychology AP. A really loud cell phone rang in the middle of the test and the proctor had to find the purse/bag and take it out. The dumb part was he brought it back in after it finished ringing and it started to ring again. He took it out, brought it back in, and it rang again. FINALLY, he just left it outside. I'm not sure if it's a problem, but I hope not.

Don't they tell you like 100 times NOT to bring cell phones, and then if you still bring a cell phone, don't they give you a last chance to turn it in? Not only that, but to have a cell phone ON after all that seems pretty idiotic...

Anyway, I don't think all of your scores will get canceled. As far as I know it's just that one person.

If that one girl gets all of our scores canceled, we're going to go to her house to demand $82 for each of us (that adds up to over $2000). Then we'll burn down her house and kick her dog.

I dont see why a cell phone is in the exam room in the first place. And if it is, why isn't the ringer on vibrate, or better yet, why isn't the ringer off?; even better, why isn't the cell phone turned off?

Idiots like that should get their scores cancelled, but yea like what zach447 said, none of your scores will be canceled.

Man I hate cell phones so much in public and quiet designated areas, despite warnings and signs that tell you to turn it off. I never even have my ringer on. It's either on vibrate or off.

Many people take phones to the exam, they just need to be turned off. I take my phone to school, so I have it in my backpack, and that is why I would have it in an exam room. At the beginning, all cell phones are brought up to the front of the gym and turned off. Almost 3/4 of the people put a cell phone up there. Obviously your proctors are not doing a good job.

Why don't they just solve the problem by demanding that students only bring a calculator, two pencils, a pen, and student pack to the testing room. This is really unnecessary.

It's her own fault if she gets her scores canceled. I would not sympathize with her if this does happen. Everytime I go in to take an AP exam the proctors state 5 times to turn off your cell phone. That girl decided to risk her score and be lazy by simply not turning off her phone.... what an idiot.

at my school they require evryone to turn in their cell phones at the beginning of the test. we all put them in paper bags with our names on them and then they are taken out of the room, to the office, until we are done with the test. but then agian my school is very much for following every rule in the book

Yeah, everyone at my school agrees that she deserves to get her score canceled, but my counselor still thinks that CB is going to go all berserk and cancel the scores of everyone in the room, then disallow us from taking future AP tests...then kidnap our families and pillage our homes.

The people at our testing center have us put our phones in plastic bags w/ our name on them before the test. That's certainly not difficult and makes things easier for the morons that can't follow instructions. Any person who's too lazy and careless to turn their phone off or leave it in their car/home deserves to have their scores invalidated, seems completely fair to me.

lol... 2 peoples cell phones rang on a test, and the proctor just made them turn it off, (although she already said to turn them off) and give it to her until the end of the test

When I finished my AP US History test, I wasnt allowed to leave until the time expired, so I called my friend on my cellie and asked him what he was doing for lunch and made plans.
