Cell phone service

So from what I understand, the At&t coverage at William and Mary is pretty much nonexistent. But what I want to know is, what does works? I currently have At&t, but my contract is about to end, and I'm wondering which carrier I should switch to. I am mainly interested in the larger companies like Verizon, Sprint, and especially T-mobile. Does anyone have any advice?

We’ll let current and former students take this one but it might be worth a call or a web search with each of the companies you’re considering to see what they say about their service in Williamsburg

Verizon has been great for our student. We have a family plan with 2 students in different states.

Verizon is #1 for Williamsburg. AT&T has been horrendous on campus for years (works fine out side, but in many buildings the reception is very weak to non-existent), and despite efforts to improve service there hasn’t been too much change.

Thanks, I’m thinking of switching to Verizon since I’ve heard a couple people recommend it. For the record t-mobile, sprint, verizon, and EVEN At&t pretty much say they get flawless service throughout Williamsburg on their coverage maps. I don’t think that is the best resource.

i can’t really speak as a student, but I just got back and had perfect service on the campus and I have Verizon. However, be wary of the maps on the websites. I live in a town where we only get Verizon but the AT&T map says we should have service (but we don’t). So I wouldn’t trust the maps, the companies are just trying to sell their products.

How is the phone service for Sprint?

My daughter has Verizon and it has worked well on campus. However, their customer service has been completely unacceptable. We wish to switch to either US Cellular or Ntelos. Does anyone know if these services work well on campus?

My daughter has Verizon and gets perfect service…my daughter’s roommate has AT and T. She has to borrow my daughters phone to call home since she doesn’t get any signal at all in the dorm and only spotty throughout the rest of campus.

I’ve had two students there with AT&T. They had a few minor problems, but were able to work around them.
