Cell phone service?

Hi everyone. This is for students who attend IU or who know the area well. What cell phone service is best at Indiana University. I currently have At&t and I am contemplating changing my service so I was wondering who has the best. Thanks.

Charlie. Verizon and AT and T seem to be about equal in terms of reception, etc. T mobile is bad! AT and T has gained some towers recently though. One thing I have noticed is that I often lose my connection on 3rd St as I'm driving past campus. The only thing I can figure out is that IU's network is somehow interferring with my phone. I use Verizon. FYI--my cell is CRUCIAL to my business.

DO NOT GET T-MOBILE. Absolutely horrible. I have no reception what's so ever, and when i called them about it, they pretty much just said tough luck.

I usually get one bar... and if i stand on top of my bunk or whatever, i might get two bars:(

However, my roomate has cingular.. Gets great service

My son has Verizon, and it has worked well. No major problems unless he tries to call from a basement or in a building with thick cement walls.

Does anyone have any comments about Sprint??? Son will be attending in the fall and hopes to keep his current plan but will change if need be.

Does anyone local (I'm guessing otherwise you wouldn't know about it) have Centennial? That's what I have now and well it works (about the only one that does) in this part of Indiana, but I'm curious if it would hold up in Bloomington

My daughter has Virgin Mobile which uses the Sprint network. She has not had any problems with it in Bloomington that I've heard about.

I live in B-ton. Kayleigh--I've never heard of Centennial. Perhaps it's some smaller company that serves smaller areas? What part of the state are you from? Unless they have an agreement with some of the bigger companies I would guess it might be an issue or you could be paying enormous roaming fees.

ikylldancer and others. I forgot about Sprint. It works fine here. I work in a business, as indicated above, where my cell phone is extremely important! None of my collegues have complained about Verizon, Sprint, or AT and T in terms of coverage in town. (20 minutes from campus is another story) Just the odd thing I mentioned above.

Centennial is based out of Ft. Wayne, and is basically only found in IN, OH, Michigan, Lousiana, Texas, and Mississippi.. It is basically for the smaller towns.. It probably doesn't work up there, I didn't figure it would. I just knew it works (by works, I mean they have stores and their own towers) in Ft Wayne, South Bend, etc..

I'll be glad to switch then. We only switched to Centennial because Cingular cut our contract because we lived 3 minutes out of their area even though we got service. Oh well!

Hm. I have T-Mobile and have no problems. I don't know ANYTHING about cell phones though, so I don't know what this means, but sometimes it'll say Cingular where it normally says T-Mobile. But I always have reception.

Just an FYI for those of you coming to IU. I was in the AT and T store today. While there I noticed a big sign indicating IU students are eligible for some type of discount. I think the address was Indiana University Cell Phone Agreement with Cingular/AT&T
