If i go to Cornell for college, I'd like to be able to know which cell phone carrier gets the best service (i.e. i've heard that at northwestern, verizon works loads better than u.s. cellular)

do any Cornelians know which carriers work best in the Ithaca area? Thanks!

Verizon works best. You can be buried 10 feet underground in a lead box and you'd still get reception.

I had Cingular and that worked well but by then I was already living off campus (I had Verizon my first two years). I do know it's tough to get reception in some of the dorms regardless of what you have unless you strap some tin foil to your head and hang upside down outside the window.

gee, I thought that was a hazing stunt

No, that was Balch girls trying to get reception.

Verizon is awesome

thanks, guys!

i know it's a small question--but i'm glad i clarified!

what about sprint service?

is there any service that flat out WONT work?

I know that T-Mobile is bad in Ithaca. One of my friends had T-Mobile, and her phone never got any signal. I'm not sure about Sprint though, since I don't know anyone who has it.

I have a friend who came to Cornell with Sprint...it didn't work on West Campus so she switched to T-Mobile. T-Mobile worked on West but not anywhere else...

Verizon or Cingular. I think both have a cell tower on top of the Barton Castle.

T_T alrite i have t-mobile, is there anyplace where it CAN work?

My verizon worked great everywhere.
My roommate had T-Mobile and he was always complaining about bad reception. I know for sure that he didn't get reception in our collegetown dorm.

Cingular works ok on main campus, but if you're in one of the older dorms on North campus you will not get reception. We had to change over to Verizon after years of being Cingular customers. Verizon has been fine all over.

verizon best. cingular second. t mobile = junk. att = slightly better junk but still junk

i guess the old att. rmate had att and it complete didn't work at all.

So Sprint would still be an okay choice right?

verizon is the only one that works all the time

i think ill be switching from tmobile to att bc of the cornell discount, but is att generally good or should I just pay the extra money for verizon? (i dont really call people a lot either)

There's a Cornell discount for att? How do I get a discount?
