cell phones at UVA

Here's an interesting article from Cavalier Daily:

Does anyone know what kind of service T-Mobile gets in Charlottesville?

As far as tmobile I'd say it's quite good - I've yet to have any issues described in the article. About the only areas of spotty receptions I found were in classrooms. One other positive note is that it's less popular than say Cingular, and say during a busy football game you're not facing a message about your network provider being too busy (something that does happen for say Cingular).

I have verizon and I've never had any problems whatsoever.

I have sprint and I have a decent signal most of the time, but around Scott Stadium....it's absolutely horrible!

Regardless of where you are, Cingular is the worst service to have in central and southwestern Virginia. I have horrible Cingular reception in Blacksburg, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, and Charlottesville.

My Daughter took her Verizon cell phone with her.....still has number with No VA 703 area code.....can use text messaging, buy not more advanced features like sending pictures or using VCast. Overall she has had very good service from Verizon and since we have her on our Family share plan, the price is right. I don't think there is a Verizon office in Charlottesville though. Verizon uses another networks towers for reception in that part of Virginia.
