Cell Phones at Your School

What is your school's policy regarding cell phones?

At my school, if the teachers or staff see someone using their cell phone for any reason at all during the day, they are allowed to confiscate it and then require them to pay $15 in order to get it back. Is this even legal?

At my old school, I was on my phone all the time (during passing periods and in some classes after I finished my work).

lol they allow us to use it anywhere except in class…or during class time. If it’s something regular that they catch you using it they’ll either:

-confiscate it until the end of the hour

 • confiscate it and turn it in to the Attendance Office and pick it up at the end of the school day
 • if it’s excessive confiscate it and turn it in to the Attendance Office and your parents gotta pick it up.

Most teachers are lax…others are not.

that’s so lame they make you pay for it! but hey it’s an effective way of controlling that issue :D

My Physics teacher posts your name in front of her class door ( ie. "Thanks to John Smith for Cell phone # 3!!! :)) if you’re caught and shows your picture to everyone…and if the class does it more than 3 times we have to take a test…that counts towards our grade :(

Our school takes it away for the day for the 1st offense, then for a week for repeated offenses. Additionally:
1st offense: Warning/Detention
2nd offense: Detention/Saturday Detention
3rd offense: Friday Detention/ISS
4th offense: ISS

The / indicates middle school/high school policies.
