<p>I haven't had a cell phone for several years and am wondering how they work when you go out of state. For example, do I register a service (like Sprint) for my home area code or my college area code? Is it cheaper if I register a number under my college's area code instead?</p>

If it includes long distance in the price, then which area code you choose doesn’t matter.</p>
<p>If they charge extra for long distance, then choose the area code you plan to call to most frequently.</p>
