Does anyone know about the program at Central Washington University in Ellensburg? We viisted the campus and really liked it - program is fairly new but looks similar to other MT programs. Would love some feedback.

omigosh!!! i'm so glad you started this thread...i'm from washington, and am trying to research cwu...i haven't visited yet, but am going to very soon! what did you think of the program? teachers? campus? sorry to answer your questions with questions, but i'm so curious!

I have a friend that goes there and I did audition there last year on a whim. It really wasn't for me, though, the town of Ellensburg is like, two streets. Haha. I mean, the small town feel is good for some people, but it wasn't for me.

Anyway, my friend is a freshman MT there and the technical director from my school used to work there...I know she loves it but she has said that the program is a bit like high school. She did have a big role in a play this year (straight play as an MT, too), though, so it might interest people that you can get cast early on.

Oh, and I'm also from Oregon :)

I'm glad too!I knew quite a few had auditioned and thought it would be nice to discuss. We were very impressed with the faculty. Highly professional but also so friendly and helpful. The campus was beautiful with a great student union building, rock climbing wall, big cafeteria. Nice buildings but we couldn't go into a dorm. Overall we just got a great "feel" from the school - had visited another a day before and found it kind of cold atmosphere and not so attractive either so CWU was a nice contrast. The students we talked to really like the theater department. Wondering about "high school" comment. How did that come across - level of courses? or what?

It is a small town. But not too far from Seattle which is a great city! Anyone know anyone in theater at CWU - perhaps to email and ask some questions??

Just got my acceptance letter to the BFA MT! I'm from WA too, and got a huge scholarship so it's looking pretty attractive right now.

I know of a couple people that are theatre majors (not BFA MTs) there and am not impressed by their talent level. Haven't visited there (my audition was at a different place). I know one gal who did her masters there and she said it was a wonderful experience (theatre). Would love to hear more opinions on it...

ninnynoodle-where did you audition? did you also apply to western washington? i heard that was a good school for theatre. i'm just trying to find some good instate options, because it is so expensive!
