<p>I don’t know if this question has been asked, but what are the differences between Cerro Vista and Poly Canyon Village?</p>
<p>I am an incoming transfer with junior status into SLO’s engineering program. I am very interested with the idea of living on campus and got offered both of these places as options. So, does it matter which I chose? (price, perks, area, distance, etc)</p>
<p>Most upper classman live in Poly Canyon. Most residents of Cerra Vista are freshman. Poly Canyon is newer and has more amenties such as a pool and plaza with restaurants and some shopping. Cerra Vista is a bit closer to the main campus.</p>
<p>I’m currently a second year living in Poly Canyon village (PCV). Last year, as a freshman, I lived in Cerro. Both apartments are very nice and really aren’t that different overall. Cerro was mostly freshmen last year, but this year it is more mixed and I think a lot of transfer students are living there. PCV is slightly newer. </p>
<p>The pros of living in PCV are: pool, basketball/volleyball courts, PCV plaza which has Einstiens, Peets coffee, a small food market, and Jamba juice. The restaurants all have study rooms and there are also study rooms with wireless internet in all of the PCV apartment buildings. There are also two parking garages that offer more protection for your car than the cerro hill parking lot (if you have a car that is).</p>
<p>Cons of living in PCV: no garbage disposals in the sinks (cerro sinks have them. Its a small thing, but nice to have), it is farther away from campus (a walk that would take me 10 minutes from cerro takes me about 8 minutes more from PCV - I live in one of the back buildings though). The kitchen and living room areas are kinda of small.</p>
<p>Pros of cerro: closer to campus, smaller than PCV so a bit more of a community feel to it, most apartment layouts have spacious kitchens with pantrys, beautiful views from the 3rd/4th story apartments, I personally think the cerro community center is nicer than the PCV one, for some reason I feel like the cerro bedrooms are a tiny bit bigger than the PCV ones, but I may just be imagining it.</p>
<p>Cons of cerro: the hill!!! the apartments are on a hill and it a be tiring walking up the hill several times a day, outdoor entrances can lead to drafts in your apartment which can make it kind of chilly sometimes (both the PCV and cerro apartments have heat though, but not air conditioning), some of the bathrooms are kind of small (but they still are definitely not cramped - theres enough room theyre just a bit smaller)</p>
<p>You get the same bedroom furniture with either apartment, but the living room furniture in PCV is a little more comfortable.</p>
<p>After reading this, i’m leaning towards PCV as of now. I’ve also seen the virtual tour pictures of both areas and like PCV’s more. </p>

<p>I’m planning on transferring this fall. It looks like transfer students are only being offered rooms in the Cerra apartments.</p>
<p>I’m a transfer and I only got offered a spot in CV. PCV was not even an option for me. The same is true for all other Fall '11 transfers with whom I have communicated. Lame!</p>
