Cierro Vista or Poly Canyon Village?

I’m transferring to Cal Poly and moving out for the first time. I don’t party at all but am social. Which apartments should I sign up for?

As a transfer student, you should apply to poly canyon. Most people in the cerro vista apartments are freshman. There is one cerro building for transfers but sonetimes there are not enough transfers to fill up the building so you may end up being with a lot of freshman. I spoke with a freshman who happened to be put into the transfer apartment. I’m not bashing freshman (I am one in cerro), but I think you can fit in more with students at pcv. Besides, poly canyon is brand new and you are bound to be with upper level students who can give you advice on what to do. It may be a little bit farther to walk to your class than from the dorms, but it is only about 5-8 minutes to walk to the dorms from pcv.

hmm for the last few years, it seemed like they tried to put all the transfers in the same location. However, this year there are some in cerro and some in pcv. I’ve met transfers living in both places, and the ones living in cerro seem to be having a much better experience. Since cerro has freshmen and transfers this year, everyone seemed much more open to meeting new people and getting to know one another. On the other hand, the transfers who were placed in poly canyon were not all placed with other transfers. They were all separated, making it more difficult to get to know people, since most returning students in pcv already have their groups of friends. However, the last couple of years when they placed all transfers in one building in pcv, people seemed pretty happy.
