CFA Redoes?

I was under the impression that all the service academies let you take the CFA as many times as you want and you can continue to update your score. Yet West Point only gives you one form and USAFA says you can't change the scores once you enter them into the computer so how do you update your score. Thanks for the help.

You will only be allowed to re-take if they feel that you are highly competitive (looking to give LOA/Appt) and that is a rarity, or at least what I have seen on the posts. You can't update unless they send you a letter saying please re-take the CFA, once the score is in, it's in. Do you feel that you did poorly and that is why you are asking, or are you just curious?

My son recently did his, but he's not happy with his scores. The PE instructor/coach had him do the entire assessment outdoors. The grass was slick and it was windy (~30mph) so those factors affected his performance. If he didn't enter nor report the scores, is he able to redo it? He had prior trial runs and had much better scores.

The coach/CFA proctor is suppose to enter the scores, I don't know the answer if he didn't maybe somebody else can help.

Mummy,

If the scores were not sent in, he can most definitely retake the cfa. If they have been sent in, those are most likely the scores that are part of his profile. It couldn't hurt to request an opportunity to retake the test - after giving the reason for disappointing scores. If he gets the chance, make sure the test is administered indoors.

For West Point - once the scores are marked on the official score card they need to be sent in - unless you call and get another scorecard.

I am pretty sure the run has to be done outdoors. The test is intended to be taken indoors in a gymnasium until the run. The run is supposed to be done on a 400 m (or yard) track.

The PE teacher needs to read the instructions and the entire test booklet.
There also is a spot for the instructor to write extenuating cirmumstances - about the test or conditions.

If the test was submitted - he can call his admissions officer and request to take it again - actually it might be a good excuse to call.

Yes, there are differences between the academies when it comes to the CFA :).

The standing rule at WP is that a candidate can take the CFA as many times as they like (practice tests), but once the scores are submitted to admissions they are final. In exceptional cases, WP may request a redo, but that is not the norm. I do not believe that the candidate can request a redo.
If candidates are unhappy with their scores, they should tell their coach/CFA proctor not to submit their scores and ask to redo the test.
I have been slammed for saying this in the past so I will tread carefully here. Candidates should know it is possible to be physically qualified for another academy (pass the CFA) and not be physically qualified for USMA (fail the CFA). It doesn’t happen often but it can happen.

Skonvalin - when you are happy that your CFA scores reflect the "best you can do", have your coach fill out your form and submit it to WP admissions (make copies for the practice tests). For WP, the CFA will count 10% (max) of your whole candidate score.

Best advice: If you are unsure of your results, discuss your scores with your MALO before your coach submits them.

Thanks everyone you were very helpful. Overall I did fairly well, I think, :) on the CFA but think I can do a lot better overall even though it's only 10% every little bit helps/

"even though it's only 10% every little bit helps"
I believe that the difference between just passing the CFA and maxing the test is about 450 points. It can make a real difference to your WCS.
