Cfa

As packermatt7 stated, the CFA is designed as a cumulative endurance test. You should not expect to run your best mile time immediately after completing the other five events.

still we ran mile intervals last week and I ran 4 of 5 miles under 6:45 so I am very very mad at myself. However, I understand what you guys are saying. Thanks for the advice. Time for some pushups........

work on pushups though :) everything else is good.. only way to get better doin pushups is to do more of them. correctly.. looking forward, breakin 90 degrees w/ your arms.. now your CFA pushups dont have to be perfect, but when you get here, they should be good

Also keep in mind that, while you should always strive to do your best, the CFA really isn't that important. All the scores I've seen so far this year are great, but make sure to keep academics as your primary focus. Unless you're a blob (and I mean that in the nicest way possible), it's really hard to get kicked out of the Academy for athletic deficiencies. Academic troubles hit a lot more people, and a lot harder.

I just took my CFA today and I am a boy, just to specify, how do these cfa scores look?
BBall: 61ft
Shuttle: 11.0sec.
Pull Ups: 10
Crunches: 87
Push Ups: 70
Mile: 7:10

Are those passing scores?

they look fine. shuttle run could use some work...

Allright I took mine last afternoon, and I am pretty happy with my scores, because I improved on everything from my practice one.

B-ball throw: 80 ft
Pullups: 15
Shuttle: 8:56
Situps: 88
Pushups: 49
Mile: 6:48

Thats pretty incredible taz... The selections board will like those.

other than your pushups, the rest looks pretty solid!

Yeah but 49 looks a whole lot better than 35, so I was happy with them.

I recieved a LOA to Air Force on Nov. 6th with similar scores Taz.

Throw: 68 ft
Pull-Ups: 11
Shuttle Run: 9.26
Sit-Ups: 76
Push-Ups: 44
Mile Run: 6:44

As long as you have good grades and are involved you should be alright.

Hello all. Looking for some advice. I hate to be asking it, but realistically, how low can I score on the CFA, and still be competitive? My upper body strength is not to par and my pull ups and pushups are a reflection of that. When I took a practice test test a few weeks ago I was at the following scores:
BB throw: 54'
Pullups: 7
Shuttle Run: 9.1sec
Situps: 77
Pushups: 35
Mile: 5:28

The rest of the application is submitted, so the dilemma is taking the CFA asap to complete the file vs. improving the scores and keeping the file incomplete. I plan to retry the test in a week, so I will have new numbers to work with then.

Thanks!

(edit) I read several pages about practicing pyramid pull-ups as good practice. Will somebody give a quick explanation?

1,2,3,4,5,4,3,2,1 pull-ups (or whatever number you can handle)

BB Throw - 77 feet
Pullups - 11
Shuttle run - 9.21 (best was 8.9)
Situps - 80
Pushups - 61
Mile Run - 6:59

This was only a practice run. Hopefully I do better on my actual test.

Edit: Just maxed out situps and got 70 pushups.

iceman09, even though I am a girl, and thus my test has different standards, I still have a little advice. If you practice that basketball throw, you can improve it A LOT. I could only do 24 push-ups and 0 pull-ups on my cfa and I still managed to throw the basketball 60 ft. There are a number of threads on here about different techniques for this event, so read them, but if you have ever played tennis, the best way to think about it is probably like a tennis serve. Good luck and hope to see you as part of 2013

USAFA10s is right on, although the points awarded for the BB throw really are no where near as big as those for the pushups. You NEED to get those up. Here at the P school we have to take the CFA once per quarter and so we see a little better how things are weighted.

honestly, the only things you beat me in were the pullups (by 3) and mile...and I'm a girl. I also did the CFA when I was dog sick.

point being...? Or was this post just to show how awesome you are?

I agree with AC.

My CFA scores, on average, were MUCH worse than most people posting on here. Doesn't predict how well you will do here at all. CFA is such a small part of the app and doing phenomenal on it vs doing ok or well won't make or break it. Flieger, thoughts?
