CFE Score

Is anyone aware of the current standards for the CFE? I have seen the maximum amnts, but would like to know the averages. For example, the max mile for males is 5:20, but what does one have to score in order to get any pts in that area. The academies used to show the mean, but that was for the PAE.

According to the PCQ booklet(this is for the CFA):
Event Max Average

bball throw 102ft 70 ft

Pull-Ups 18 8

Shuttle 7.8s 10.0

Crunch 95 65

Push Up 75 50

1-Mile 5:20 7:00

Are you sure of those #s? I thought pushup amnt was 54, but I'm not certain. Anways, what would happen if I were to recieve these #s?
Bball throw: 70ft
Pullups:10
Sit-ups:70
Shuttle run: 9.8s
pushups:54-56
mile run:7:15
Would I pass? If so, w/ what type of score? Would it affect acceptance if I recieved low score?

Not meaning to be rude...but you can look this stuff up on your own.

"Would it affect acceptance if I recieved low score?"

Of course not, they just put it in your application package for fun.

You probably need to get a few of those scores a little higher, like the mile run (go out and run a few miles every day), and the basketball throw. I think if you fail one of the events, you wont get in, so it's better to make sure you're at least average in every event. It's preferrable to be above average in every event. You should pass from what I see, but I'd practice everything a bit just to be sure. Are you applying to the Academy right now?

Yes, I am. The averages are not listed at USAFA.edu falcon.

What I meant was, is the CFE just a pass/fail thing(like the medical), or do they use it as a deciding factor?

As far as I know, if you fail one event, you probably wont get into the Academy. As long as you pass everything, then the higher your scores are, the more points towards your admission score. However, you can still not get in even if you max out every event. So, just do as well as you possibly can in order to get the most points for yourself, and make sure you dont fail any of them.

Thats just the PCQ packet, a2010f. If you havent seen that yet and you're applying right now, you ought to get on that. I first completed the PCQ in like June. Even if you have everything else, that packet is good to have.

I have seen that packet and the CFE maximum scores that are listed in it, but where did you find the CFE minimums?

Those aren't minimums, I believe those are just averages for people taking the CFA last year. Minimums are probably slightly below all of those averages

I don't believe there are any minimums this year.

a2010f -

Despite the advice you're getting here, the information you are seeking does not appear to exist. Because the CFA is new, I have seen none of the academies publish average performance or scoring guidelines. Perhaps your local admissions officer can help you.

Scanning your results - they look strong. Just crank the run down a bit.

Good luck.

I can do:
Basketball Throw: 66 feet
Pull-ups: 8
Shuttle Run: 9.2 seconds
Sit-ups: 95
Push-ups: 53
Mile Run: 7:30

I am aiming for average on all of the events but am obviously not there on the throw or the mile.

A little under average won't hurt you I don't think because it is an average which means some were above and some were below. Just as long as you don't do a 14 minute mile I think you will be fine.

My ALO emphatically told me that 5 pull-ups and 54 feet b-ball throw are the minimun and that if you do not get 5 or the 54 that you do not go to the academy. I think they raised the pull-ups from 3 two years ago because he says that will keep many people out and that the number one from my area last year could only do 4 pull-ups and was not appointed but several others were. He keeps telling me all I have to do is pass all the events.

I would advise everyone to do a practice test so you get the feeling of all the events in a row. When I am just running I can do like a 7:10 mile but my performance dropped significantly after the other events as you can see from above.

Yeah, a little below the minimums probably wont hurt, but you should definately try to get as close to average as possible

Right Now I Can Do:
BBall throw- 85 feet
Shuttle run-7.8
Sit Ups-95
Push Ups- 65
Pull Ups-10
Mile Run-4:20

About a month ago, I could barely do 3 pull ups and 25 push ups. Since those were obviously my weakest areas, I decided to work on them every day. I imroved a lot in just a month. If you are close to the averages, just a little work, a few weeks worth, can possibly push you to the average or maybe above it. As texanfalcon said, a practice is good to let you know exactly where you are with every event.

My ALO said that if you can meet the Averages, that's pretty good. They j\ust want to see that you can handle BCT and pass the semester tests. I meet average on most, but minimum on others.

BBall throw- 55 feet
Shuttle run-10
Sit Ups-65
Push Ups- 35
Pull Ups-9
Mile Run-7:30

I have a smaller frame, bball throw is very hard for me. I work what I can on it. But I agree with Patriot, I had the same results in little time. 6 to 9 pull-ups and 20 to 35 push ups with relatively little work. I just have to push really hard now for my test. My goals are at least averages, but that won't happen for the mile and the bball throw. I just hope I can make up on the others.

Did it today

BB Throw: 72
Sit Ups- 89
Push Ups- 62
Pull Ups-8
Mile Run-5:19 (I was dumb and decided to do a full out cross country practice the day before...almost cost me that max!)

nice scores, what did you get for the shuttle run?

Falcon you run XC eh? I do as well, and may very well be at the Academy. I talked to the head xc coach a few times and he said they may bluechip me, and needless to say I'm really hoping they do.

9.1

Not my strongest suit.

I'm an XC and track runner, but nowhere near the caliber needed for the academy team. 17:30 5k is my lowest right now....but It'll be dropping over the next weeks.
