Chance a British student

I am studying the English curriculum - GCE A levels - and wondered what grades were required by USC to be a serious candidate (possibly also for scholarships?)

I am taking 3 A levels:
-Spanish
-Geography
-Information Communication Technology (like computer science and computing)

I'm aiming to get A's in all three subject especially as I live in Spain and speak Spanish pretty well, but I'm nervous that if I dont get all A's that my chances of USC will be over.

Are there many British students at USC and how do USC compare A levels with the US GPA and AP system. I think A levels are comparable to APs and IB exams, but I'm not too sure.

Any info would be really appreciated!

I took A levels too before USC, but in Hong Kong.

Most USC scholarships are only open to US citizens or residents, sadly. tear

I was accepted with predicted AAB, and got ABB in the end, so you should be good. A levels are comparable with AP and IB, and you can get 8 units of credit per A level. I don’t know if Spanish A level will pass you out of the foreign language requirement completely though, you’ll have to check with the OIS.

PM me if you have any more questions.

Exam results have now come out in England and I got AAB.

I’m not sure whether to take the SAT exam or not (I believe it is optional for me seeing as I am international and haven’t studied the US curriculum).

Would it be worthwhile taking the exam? I really need to focus on my essay (which should be very good if I put the time in).

Also another update: I have secured approx. 4 work experience positions in the music industry from september onwards. How do you think these will increase my chances of not only getting accepted to USC but also for Thornton to study Music Industry?

Thanks in advance!

Actually, USC merit-based scholarships are open to all students.

It is need-based financial aid and financial aid from the US government that are citizens only.

[USC Financial Aid - Applying & Receiving Financial Aid - International Students](http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/applying_receiving/international/)

If it’s convenient for you to take the SAT, don’t not take it because you’re afraid you haven’t learned what you need to know to do well on it. There are definitely plenty of international students here who did not take the SAT, but if you do terribly, you can choose not to send your score.

Send me a PM if you want to know anything about the SAT. I have a bunch of ebooks that you should glance at before you choose to take it just to familiarize yourself with the sort of questions they ask.

I’m a freshman at USC, although I’m from the US, so I can’t help you out with the international stuff. I did fairly well on the SAT, though.
