CHANCE a HARVARD APPLICANT

Basically what everybody else has said.

You are clearly academically qualified and prepared. But why should Harvard take you over all of the other amazing Asian applicants it will inevitably consider?

Good luck. There’s nothing more you can do at this point.

so the consensus seems to be that im smart but no wow factor

well guys, ultimately daem0n has a point

“There’s nothing more you can do at this point.”

so i’ll let you know what happens in the end

thanks everyone for checking this post out! these things do give some peace of mind even though newaccount seems to disagree. so thanks once again.

I think your ECs and accomplishments are quite amazing, and don’t understand why people are saying nothing about you stands out or whatever. I’m definitely impressed! True, your SAT score could have been a little higher, but a 2200 won’t make or break you.

I think the way you come across in your application–essays, short responses, even the way you phrase your ECs–will be the crucial piece of the puzzle for you. You meet the prerequisite requirements, if such a thing even exists, so all you can do now is hope your personality shines through in your application.

For what it’s worth, I’d be extremely surprised if you weren’t accepted to CMU, BU, and Stony Brook. Stanford, Harvard, Brown, and MIT are always hard to predict, but I think your chances there are as good as any. Good luck! I’ll be rooting for you :)

Your grades are fair, and you have two SAT sections below 700 which hurts a lot. Siemens semifinalist is nice, but I don’t find your application truly Harvard level awe inspiring. You still have a shot, and remember that the standards we discuss are that of Harvard, you’re still at least in the 95th percentile of intelligence. Good luck with your applications!

I think you will get in at least one of HYPSM, because of your research stuff. Intel Semi is pretty awesome!! Although you SATs could be a little higher (you would be a shoo-in with like a 2350+), but you definitely deserve to go to a top 10 school. But be cautious and apply to som safeties also.
btw. care to chance me??? Thanks.

accepted at carnegie mellon, school of computer science
brown university

reject from the other hypsm
