Chance a Junior for College of Engineering?

I screwed around a lot in middle school and got into some horrible school-related habits. My freshman year I finally decided to turn my grades around, but my old tendencies still left an impact on my resume. Nonetheless, ever since the second semester of said freshman year I've been at a near-sprint trying to bring myself back up. I'm looking to get into either GA Tech (probably won't happen between admittance and cost,) and NC State Engineering, majoring in Computer Science and possibly also seeking a degree in Computer Engineering.

Here's the majority of my high-school transcript so far, (currently near the end of my Junior year: )

Freshman Year:
Botany: 90
Christian Ethics: 93
Civics: 95
English I: 85
Geometry: 91
Health and Physical Education: 99
Public Speaking: 92

Sophomore year:
Book of Revelation: 89
Honors Algebra II: 85
Honors Biology: 92
Honors English II: 88
Honors World History: 86
Photography: 72 (I missed the final exam due to illness and was unable to make it up thanks to parent-teacher issues. It's a long story, but how do I express this to the school?)
Spanish I: 81

Junior Year (Fall Semester: )
AP English Language and Composition: 92
Graphic Design & Publication: 94
Honors Chemistry: 85
Honors Pre-Calculus: 84
Living What You Believe: 87 (Religion Course. The grade's my fault, as I forgot to turn in a major project first six-weeks grading period. I'm not that worried, it should come back up by the end of the year.)
Spanish II: 83
United States History: 88

A bunch of my grades from this (Junior) year should be coming up by the end of the semester. I have a horrible tendency for forgetting to turn things in (combination of general forgetfulness and ADHD.)

I've taken the PSAT and got a projected SAT score of around 1800. My goal, at the moment, is to earn a 2000 before I apply to colleges. My projected ACT scores are around a 31, according to the PLAN test.

I've been in a number of extracurricular activities, including:
-FFA
-Key Club
-Science Olympiad
-Ducks Unlimited
-One year of JV Football
-Two years of Varsity Football (as of now,) proceeding to the state championship/semi-finals each year.
-Beta testing numerous Microsoft products, as well as a number of video games.
-Boy Scouts (Should obtain my eagle very soon... I'm waiting on paperwork from an advisor. I held the position of Senior Patrol Leader for three years, as I was the only member of my age-group who stuck with it and thus kept the position after everyone quit until another scout was of a high enough rank to accept it.)
-I had the privilege of attending the 2010 BSA National Jamboree in Virginia, also with the Boy Scouts.
-Am currently trying at attend leadership conferences, the most recent being RYLA, an event sponsored by the Rotary Club.

Additionally, I've been working at a family business since the age of fourteen or fifteen, holding a management position since I got my driver's license at sixteen, (currently seventeen.) I've been working on computers since I was about seven, and have done plenty of work for a number of people across my city and county. I've coded numerous websites for both personal use as well as for other people, including my school's Journalism website when I was taking Graphic Design and Publication.

I also really enjoy cars, and spend a lot of my free time working on my own. I've recently obtained a junk Arctic Cat 250 four-wheeler for the sake of tearing down and rebuilding the engine in order to learn fundamentals from the two-stroke before moving up to an actual automotive engine. I also plan to buy a Nissan 240sx s14 this summer so I can further hone my skills.

Enough blabbering though; my main worry is that I only have a 3.45 GPA with an 88 overall average. Seeing as I've been working my way up from a pit and also taking the hardest classes that are provided at my school (exception being history this year,) do you think I have a good enough case to get in?

Thanks ahead of time, I'm stressing like hell and I'd really appreciate some reassurance that I can spare enough time to breathe and not get rejected or deferred. Thanks!

I got accepted for engineering fall 2011
First, Georgia Tech is very hard to get into.
Besides that, don’t worry, I think you will get in at state.
My grades were a bit higher, I played football, few other ECs.
Don’t worry about photography and your C.
When the admissions staff looks over your transcript, they want to see core math, science and English classes. (because the engineering school)
92 in AP lang is really good!
Def take calc next year
Just keep working hard, and you will be in.

by the way, my SAT scores were horrid, although my ACT was a 30.

Great to hear and thanks for the answer! Guess I’ll keep my eye on state for sure. :P

You will likely get deferred from Ga tech
Son had 3.72 and Sat 1260 (M/R) and was deferred. still waiting for decision with fall grades posted.

You have a chance at NC State, you will need to get your GPA up a bit
NC State engineering GPA of 50% admitted students for FYE is 3.72

Son has been accepted early admission to NC State
and being recruited for Honors Program.
