690 in math still isn’t that great for UPenn.

The interview is mostly a respect thing for children of alums. It’s their way of saying, this kid’s probably a no, but if he REALLY does well in this interview, he may get a chance.

Totally relaxed and conveyed my love for Penn- i think it really helped my chances!!

The double legacy will definitely help you, and the new SAT scores are a plus. The only thing that would stop you from being accepted is your rank. If you have some leadership and good essays, I think there’s a good chance you’ll be accepted, or at least deferred.
Good luck! Hopefully we’lll see each other there next year!

You lack passion and initiative the most; something that is going to set you apart from other applicants. And without it, I think you have a very slim chance, especially because of your grades, which are below the median. That is unless your parents are huge donors, because that always helps…

Legacy won’t save you with those stats

Even with a double legacy and improved math I’d still say it will be tough for you. You didn’t really list much as far as awards or ec’s go, your class rank will hurt you, and even with your improved score it is still borderline. Also, since you are from an area close to philly your area probably has more kids applying to Penn than the average area, so your first line of competition is already extensive. I’d say that you getting an interview is simply because your in an area with an alumn and the fact that it went well doesnt do muchc for you; Penn specifically says interviews don’t change chances as they don’t want to be unfair to kids who live in areas without alumn. . .in the end you are atleast competitive with your new scores and stand a chance since you have a double legacy as long as your essays are stellar.

chance me back?

Maaaannn, seeing this thread makes me even more stupid about not applying to Yale EA when I have two generations of legacy.

Why wouldn’t you apply to Yale EA if you had legacy…?

And congrats to the OP.

I liked Williams more so I went ED. But I got deferred.
