Chance a local international!

Demographic info: Asian male from North Carolina, but I have to apply as an international (sucks...) since I'm neither a citizen nor permanent resident. I'm also applying for financial aid, which is pretty tough unless the school is need-blind for internationals.

Objective stuff:
SAT 1: 2240 (770 CR, 740 Math, 730 WR)
ACT: taking it next week, hoping for a 34+ since I've gotten around 35's on practice tests.
SAT 2: Chemistry: 750, US: 720, and took Math II, Latin, and Literature yesterday, but I have no idea how I did.
GPA unweighted: 4.0
class rank: 11/377 ~ top 2.9%

School info:
One of the best public high schools in my state-very competitive.

Course load:
I'm in the IB Diploma Program at my school which is pretty rigorous, and has some tough prerequisites. I've gotten 4/5's on all my AP exams, maintained straight A's, and I'm currently taking 7 AP/IB classes.

Extra curricular:
*Quiz Bowl
*Science Olympiad
*Model UN
*Junior Classical League
*Varsity Tennis
*Cross Country
*Teen Volunteer at local hospital
*Local Indian Cultural Organization
*National Honor Society
*a ton of volunteering stuff due to the requirements of the IB diploma

Awards: Four medals at the regional science olympiad and individual qualification for the state tournament, placed at various quiz bowl competitions, finalist and winner of some local tennis tournaments, AP Scholar Award, and a myriad of school related awards.

Recs: One should be stellar, while the other really good

Essays: Excellent, probably the best thing in my app.

Where I'm applying:
A lot of the schools I'm applying to are definitely out there, but they offer the best financial aid for internationals. Also, my parents are forcing me to apply to most of these schools since they dont mind the app. fee and taking a chance.

ED/EA:
UNC Chapel Hill- not too worried since I'm in-state.

RD:
Amherst:
Williams
Brown:
Dartmouth:
Stanford:
Princeton:
Harvard:
Princeton:
Washington U in St. Louis:
Duke:

Thank you! I will definitely chance back.

realized I typed Princeton twice, and forgot to add Johns Hopkins

you forgot that 800 in the SAT blockhead subject test.

Also, a lot of this depends on each school’s individual policy concerning international students, so without knowing that it’s kind of hard to judge these kinds of things. But I have a hunch you already knew that.

haha I had a feeling you’d reply to this. Also, the only schools need blind for internationals on the list are: Harvard, Princeton, Amherst, and Dartmouth. All the others have to be “need aware” but still have the potential to give some substantial aid.

Amherst could work out. Good luck with Harvard, Princeton, and Dartmouth though. Let’s hope you’re not boned by the schools that are “need aware.”

any opinions would be great!

I think you stand a good chance at Amherst, Williams, Brown, WUSTL, and Duke. I suspect you might get decent financial packages from WUSTL and Duke, but it’s tough to say. Good luck on the ACT!
