Chance a low GPA student, will chance back!

<p>GPA: 3.519 UW</p>

<p>ACT: 32 Composite, 34 Super-score, Highest each: 36 Math, 35 Science, 34 English, 31 Reading.</p>

<p>SAT II's:
Math IC: 780
Math IIC: 800
Chem seems to be around 700 for me right now, but I might take it again in December</p>

<p>APs:
AP Calculus BC
AP Statistics
AP Computer Science
AP Micro (currently taking)</p>

<p>Our school doesn't offer much AP for the courses that I'm taking in; I have more requirement classes than some of the other students in our school, thus it is harder for me to fit in those AP courses.</p>

<p>Honors/Awards/Certificates:</p>

<p>CCNA 1 Certificate
Various Math Team awards
CompSci related awards
Golf Related awards
Dean's List
President's Volunteer Award, Bronze (government related)</p>

<p>EC:
AAST Math Team Captain
Varsity Golf 3 years, Captain
AltLaw (Project with Columbia University students, kept going until Google came up with something better)
CompSci Team
Battlebots</p>

<p>Internships/Works/Volunteer:
KAVC (Korean-American Voter's Council. We did various things to help out the Korean Community, including but not limited to passing one of the bills in House of Representatives about the Comfort Women issue).
Fairleigh Dickinson University (Working on autonomous Jeep project)
Korean School Volunteer as Teacher's Assistant
Working under Rutgers Professor to collect data for their classes
PGA Barclays Volunteer</p>

<p>Might as well as copy this from my resume:
Computer Skills
Java, C++, LISP, SQL Database, Microsoft Office, Sony Vegas Pro, Audio editing such as Audacity, GIMP, Networking, Http/Dreamweaver CS4, AutoCAD Inventor
(latter ones are all simple daily-use GUI programs (anything beyond office), but I listed them anyways)</p>

<p>Most of these were copied from my resume which I used to get an internship at FDU (listed above). Some of these are outdated and needs more work, others are pretty accurate.</p>

<p>My biggest concern is the GPA's. I don't know why, but I just do bad in classes (especially Junior year, but it was the time when someone passed away, and I took it very hard). I don't think my EC's/Awards are great either, which concerns me a lot.</p>

<p>Every classes that I take are either Honors or AP.</p>

<p>Lists of schools
MIT (I'm willing to waste money for this)
Columbia (For some reason, one of those professional 'college counselors' said I might have a chance)
Carnegie Mellon
Georgia Tech
UIllinois
UMich
NYU-Poly
LeHigh
Rutgers</p>

<p>P.S. as you can see above, I'm mostly looking for Computer Science/Computer Engineering schools.</p>

<p>It’s true that your GPA is low and that it will hurt you. Your scores, however, are excellent. That said, I think you should get into at least one of the higher tier schools listed.</p>

<p>Here’s what I think:
MIT, Columbia - Mid to High Reach
Carnegie Mellon - Low Reach
Everything else is safe or a match.</p>
