Chance a nerd girl? :)

I'm going for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Carnegie Mellon and Brown.
What sort of chances do I have?
Any feedback would be amazing

They are all reaches. Do you have matches or safeties?

Harvard: Reach
Yale: Reach
Princeton: Reach
Johns Hopkins: Low Reach/Reach
Cornell: Reach
Carnegie Mellon: Match/High Match
Brown: Reach

You may want to cut a few of those reaches and get a few matches/safeties.

Matches and safeties needed

Prepare art supplement. Improve your SAT scores. They are all reach for you with a fair distance.

CMU and JHU are low reach for you.
The others are high reach for anybody.
You need some matches.

Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
Princeton: Princeton
Johns Hopkins: low reach
Cornell: low reach
Carnegie Mellon: high match
Brown: high reach

You have incredible stats and solid chances at all those schools  The only thing I would recommend is that you bump up your SAT score to at least 2200; it’s not necessary, but it would certainly give you the upper edge in admissions to high-reach schools.

Good luck!

(And I assume you have safeties and matches, too, so I won’t bother you with that :p)

I have two safeties Case Western and Rutgers University (I get free tuition because my dad works there).
I’m working really hard to get my SATs up! Anyone have tips?? I’ve been having trouble with critical reading (the long passages…)

Also just saw on collegeboard that I’m an AP Scholar with Honor. I don’t know if that means much

Bummp? please?

It’s crazy we have the same interests and almost similar course loads.
Sorry, I know that was irrelevant, just had to get that out there. Astrophysics is indeed awesome XD

Yes! Astrophysics is indeed:)
Though I do wonder, we have similar course loads? Your profile says you’re 13… are you some kind of genius?

Astrophysics is…

Out of this world.

hahah yes definitely
I would love for more input… thanks everyone who has posted so far!

Well in terms of science I really know my stuff (really). So yeah, I guess you could say that XD, though you’re a lot farther than me so you win XD

Bumpp? Anyone else out there who can give some input?

Bummmmmmp (though idk what that is, I’m new XD)
Though I have a lot of input pertaining to this topic, though the problem with me is that I’m young and I’m not sure if all will be helpful to you.

Definitely retake the SAT I (your score is inconsistent with the rest of your profile). Try the ACT, it may be a better test for you. With your love of math (and advanced math background) you should be able to get close to an 800 in math in both the SAT I and II. Idk, I think people are not giving you enough credit for the work you are doing/have done in physics (and math). Write solid essays and make sure your teachers write recs that adhere to the MIT piece on writing recs (Google it). In the limited time you have left try to figure out what is unique and appealing about each of the schools on your list - especially as it pertains to astrophysics. This is important for the “why” essays. Good luck.

Oh, are you applying early anywhere?

Consider applying early to Hopkins, if you want a more solid chance. I agree that you should try the ACT - you’re SAT is not consistent with the 5s in AP (which colleges won’t see).

^^ Colleges will see the scores if you self-report them which you definitely should.

Also, keep in mind that some schools (like Harvard) do not ask the “why school name” question so check before doing the research. It doesn’t hurt to do it anyway though because it will help you decide what your top choices are and also if you are asked in interviews you have solid responses.
