Hey

Im trying to decide if its worth it applying here.

Weighted GPA: 4.7115
Unweighted GPA: 3.61
SAT: 710 Writing
680 Math
640 Reading (or whatever its called)

I've gotten 5's on all AP's (Calc AB, APUSH, Human Geo, Psych and Spanish)

Senior year, Im taking AP Chem, AP Gov, AP Econ, AP Environmental, and Dual Enrollment Stats

I've shadowed a doctor and plan to major in business with a pre-med track.
Captain of soccer team and varsity waterpolo since freshmen year

Also started my own business and hold a job at collections

What do you guys think?

AP Scores and Senior schedules look good. Unfortunately, GU doesn’t look at the writing component of the SAT, and the reading’s a bit low for Georgetown…however, I’ve noticed that SAT scores matter a lot less to GU than other schools I’ve seen kids with 2400s get rejected and kids with 1900s get in…

Georgetown looks heavily into ECs…starting your own business is something they’ll really like. In your essay, I would talk about how shadowing a doctor worked for you…my friend interned for Bill Nelson, wrote an essay about it, and it basically got him in.

Not considering SAT scores, I’d say you have a 75% chance at least. Considering SATs, I’d still say about 60%.

How are your writing abilities? Georgetown also looks heavily into the essays.

I’d say mid reach. Low UW GPA, okay SAT scores, and no SAT subject tests.

Do you plan on taking any SAT subject tests? I highly recommend that you do, and so does Georgetown. They strongly suggest taking three and I think with your low UW GPA and edgy SAT scores, some really good subject test scores could give your app a boost. Also, how well your essay is will have a lot to do with it.

Have you considered even retaking the SAT or trying the ACT?

I presume the business you started is operational and generating income? If so, those are things you definitely want to mention. Anybody can start a business; it doesn’t mean anything until you are generating income.
