Hi, I know that there are a lot of unseen factors that go into college admissions (especially for top colleges like cornell, princeton, UCLA, and stanford), but I am wondering if I am on the right track for admissions to these places. I am a sophomore rising to junior year, here are my stats: 5.24 GPA weighted, 3.93 UW, rank 37/530 at a very competitive public high school (I'll probably move up to 14 or so by the end of junior year) (95s and above after freshman year, I'd be valedictorian without my freshman year grades).

I especially excel at science (97 and above in all my pre ap science classes so far). I got a 200 on my PSAT, but I haven't taken any prep classes yet. I'm in academic decathlon, science UIL, math UIL, volunteer at a large hospital, NHS. I am also trying to get a research internship in an applied physics lab at UTD. I'm also planning my project entry for next years ISEF and Siemens competition. I also participate in fairly serious photography and filmmaking and have 160K views on my photos and a few mid level awards (not sure that matters).

My sophomore year schedule was: Pre-AP Chemistry, Pre-AP Algebra II, Pre-AP French III, Pre-AP English II, AP World History, JV Tennis, Theatre Arts I.

My junior year schedule is: PreAP PreCalculus, AP Chem, AP Physics I (I was going to test out since I already know the physics I and II curriculum, but my school won't let me), AP Art History, AP English III, AP Us History, AcDec, Pre-Ap French III.

@ooohcollege Seriously? I feel like I could swing a 2200 on the SAT with some practice. And I’m getting 800s on the chemistry and biology SAT practice tests.

also a 3.9 GPA is not terrible.

Im just saying that it is useless to predict acceptance to top universities for two reasons:
- You do not have an SAT score yet and that is a big part of the equation.
- All of those schools are extremely hard to get into even if you have perfect stats.

Come back in a year and we’ll try our best to chance you.

Ok so let’s say with a 2150 sat and a 3.9 gpa by the end of junior year. Where does that hypothetically put me?

Come back in a year man. Can’t u wait til then?

Am I at least on the right track

There is no right track. There’s only a track that you choose to follow. Whether it’s right is up to you and you only.

I mean on the right track for entry into these schools?

@su1xsu2xsu3 I hope you enjoy art or can at least tolerate it. I took AP Art History my sophomore year and it was my least favorite class EVER. There wasn’t an AP Art History class last school year for sophomores to take because my class told them not to take it. I hope your school doesn’t use the same book that mine did because it was long with small font it was just horrible.

But I agree with what others said junior year is major factor and you haven’t completed it yet. AP US History was the best thing ever, I seriously loved that class or maybe it was because my teacher was really funny and engaging. AP Chem I hope your teacher actually teaches, so I survived that class by making my own powerpoints if you want any of them just pm me and I’ll email them to you. As for UCLA, in-state applicants have a better chance of getting in.

From UCLA’s website: “As a public institution, we prioritize admission for California residents. However, all of our campuses offer admission to out-of-state students”
