<p>I am a sophomore currently attending a relatively competitive public high school in california (ranked #20something).</p>

<p>I am looking at some engineering major at UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and USC.</p>

<p>Ethnicity:
Chinese (ouch)</p>

<p>Grades:
Freshman: 3.8 UW (no weighted in freshman year)
Sophomore first semester: 1 AP 2 honors classes, but only 3.83 gpa (messed up really badly...)
Sophomore second semester: Same classes, projected 4.3 gpa.
Junior year: signed up for 5 AP's and one honor. Projected 4.5-4.6 gpa.</p>

<p>SAT: ~2150 (approx 750 writing, 750 math, 650 reading) from practice tests, looking for at least a 100 point boost by the time i take the october SAT.</p>

<p>EC's:
50 hours volunteering (looking for 100+ hours in the end)
a few years martial arts
some local art awards
Vice president for a small club
varsity badminton 1 year(lol)</p>

<p>i think you have agood chance what colleges are you aiming for you should think of that</p>

<p>The UC’s are a total crapshoot right now.</p>

<p>I know a guy who got into MIT and Cornell, but not UCDavis and UCSB. Serious.</p>

<p>I think you’re a lock for USC, UCSB (it’s less than 25% asian, so being a minority will actually help you here), and the lower UCs.</p>

<p>You still have a good shot for the better ones, but its more of a crapshoot given the economy and your ethnicity (asian is majority in UCLA, UCB, UCSD.</p>

<p>Please help me out as well.</p>
