<p>Hi everyone! I'm a special case because I've moved around many times--three different high schools and ten different schools overall, not including kindergarten, lol (all because of parents' jobs.) I also came to the U.S. from the Middle East at the age of ten without any sort of English knowledge, or at least very, very basic English. </p>

<p>On to stats:</p>

<p>GPA: around a 94/100. Weighted, it will be about 4.5, maybe more. Unweighted it will be around 3.95 (I received one B in freshman biology.) A's in every other subject, including AP English Language (5 on the test), AP Psych (5), AP World (5), APUSH (5), AP Calc AB (5), and AP Spanish Lang (4.)</p>

<p>SATS: 2180 (780 CR, 700 M, 700 W); I will be taking them again in Oct. 800 in US History and Hebrew, 790 in math2.</p>

<p>ECs:
Colleges will know that I moved the summer before my senior year (and the summer after my freshman year), so I had no chance of gaining leadership positions my senior year.</p>

<p>Journalism: (chosen EC on common app)
Staff writer freshman year on well-known newspaper
Sports editor (after being an associate sophomore year, a position that freshmen have to wait a year to apply for) on school paper
Staff on new paper senior year </p>

<p>Theater:
Member of the International Thespian Society
Had a few lead roles sophomore and junior year</p>

<p>Activism:
Intern at peace organization in NYC, wrote and edited a newsletter that goes out to around 5000 members
P.R. at GSA (designed posters that attracted dozens of students, introduced and acted in a school presentation about Matthew Shepard)
Peer Leader</p>

<p>Writing:
Second Place in national poetry competition
Nominated for National Council of Teachers of English writing award (results come out in October)
Published in TeenInk magazine</p>

well, your grades are excellent, and your test scores are very good.
your ec’s are obviously a bit mediocre, but since you have a good explanation to give, they shouldn’t weigh you down. focus on the GSA and peace organization aspects of your ec’s and you should be fine!
i’d so match at pitzer, since its a bit easier to get into (and i have friends there who can corroborate this), as well as davis and reed, high match at UCLA and the other two LACs, and you’ve got a solid shot at berkeley since you’re in-state.</p>

<p>Reed-looks like a great fit for you. You have the grades and based on your awards, the writing prowess to get into Reed. So I would say Reed is a match.</p>

<p>UC’s-match. Although UC’s are never a sure thing, I’ll guarantee that you’ll get into Davis and either LA or Berkeley.</p>

<p>Brown’s a reach because the Ivies are fickle but you should be in everywhere else.</p>

<p>Make sure you write about moving here and fitting in as a college essay- it’ll set you out as unique if written well.</p>

<p>Brown’s a reach for everyone but I think you’ll do pretty good for the top UCs. </p>
