Thanks I really hope I get in hope you get into nyu as well. Yeah I applied before the priority deadline. Goodluck anyone else wanna chance me

Thanks a lot =)

Anyone care to chance me
Pleaseeee

I think its low reach. Im not really sure how they look at out of state so I may very well be wrong

Wow dude you got a lot of chances.
Don’t doubt yourself invader…whatever a man thinketh so he will be…
I say apply to as many as you can if you got the money…you don’t wanna regret not applying to school because you got intimidated by the prestige of the universities…stay positive bud

Thanks that was a really nice post I’m just super nervous lol I reallyyyyy wanna go to UMD but I just can’t seem to believe in myself lol. Hopefully I will get lucky

NJ is probably the most competitive for admissions to UMDCP. I would say even more competitive than being an IS from MD. NY and CT also are extremely competitive.

The problem I see with your stats are a couple of things.

The SAT is low and you appear not to have a very rigorous course load. The way the system works is they not only look at your stats, but the school profile and your course load. A 3.6 w is one thing, but you only have 3 APs, a 3.5 w with 10 APs is a whole different ball of wax when it comes to admissions.

You are electing to go undecided which puts you in a pool with whatever is left over in room. They can’t really place you into any pile because you are going undecided, but most have enough room in all of the majors because you will have to declare your major sooner or later. They don’t know will that major be Foreign language, Education, Accounting, etc.

You are a URM which helps, honestly if you said Asian, my answer would be no chance…reason why is because now you have 2 strikes…NJ and ORM.

Your other plus is the economy is in the tanks, thus, OOS is very expensive. 35K a yr for UMDCP is expensive, and many parents will kabosh the idea and say apply to RU, Montclair, Trenton, etc. That helps you, because the competition will decrease.

I don’t know how your naviance system works…remember UMDCP has 3 ways to be accepted.

Accepted Fall
Accepted Freshman Connection
Accepted Spring.

Now if you are at the bottom of the pile, the question is does the system show it only as Fall acceptances, or ALL acceptances. If it is ALL, than my bet would be you would get Spring admittance, not Fall.

You have to look at the whole make up of the applicant and put everything into perspective, stats count, but so does where you live and what you bring to the table when it comes to fulfilling UMDCP’s admission goals.

OBTW, I agree with jm…the only 100% lock we can give you is that you have 100% chance of not getting accepted if you don’t apply.

Also, if you are looking for some merit from UMDCP to be able to afford to go there, I would say very comfortably that it will not be coming your way at all! UMDCP is very stingy on money. To get any at all that w gpa had to be over 4.0 with lots of APs and the SAT would need to be close to the 2200 range.

Bullet thank you so much for you helpful post. Yeah I know everything all around is pretty low for UMD it’s a pretty big reach but it won’t hurt to try I guess. Yeah I wasn’t expected to get any money if I got in but my parent said they would be able to afford it with a little financial aid. For Naviance I believe it shows all but I think all expect one or two were accepted to fall rather than spring.all I can do now is hope and wait lol. Thank you for your time to ride such an elaborate post

Anyone wanna chance me

hahaha i read the entire thread, your stats, etc.
