Chance a URM AA Male

Brown - reach, with good essays you have about a 65% or 70% shot
Case Western - not familiar
Columbia - same as brown except it will be more like a 50/50 toss up
MIT - biggest reach for you, you have weaker math scores than most of applicants.
Northeastern -in
RIT, RPI, SUNY Buffalo, and UPitt - you have a good chance at merit money

It might hurt you that you are valedictorian, but have below a 4.0 UW, but still #1 is very good

thank you to everyone who chanced!

All these posts with MIT as a low reach are making me super-doubt my understanding of the advantages of URM status.

I’ve ranked your reaches on a scale of 1 (least reach-y) to 5 (most reach-y)

Brown- reach, 2
Case Western- match, maybe high
Columbia- reach, 3.5
MIT- reach, 4.5
Northeastern- match, maybe high

I’m not familiar with the rest.
All of the people I know at Case Western may be over-qualified (a collection of top 10% ranked with SAT scores around but mostly well above 2100) so it might even be a low match.

Brown-reach

Question marks on the SAT 1, 2 scores, but I’d say it’s not impossible.

I’d agree that you’ll get into most of your schools. Nothing is definite at Columbia, Brown, or MIT, but you have strong chances at all three of those schools.

What pieces did you play for the supplemental recordings?

^^ I did Bach and Klengel. Out of my entire repetoire, they were the two most contrasting and would work well for recording ( I decided that The Frank Bridge Cello Sonata wasnt the best choice…)

Northeastern - In
SUNY Buffalo - Definitely In
University of Pittsburgh - So In They Will Beg You To Attend
