I think bc of AA, you have a great chance at all of these schools

The AA and #1 in your class pretty much gets you into all of them, except MIT…
But MIT is kinda impossible for everyone. My friend just got deferred with a 2300SAT solid EC’s and ranked 3rd in my school (top 15 in jersey), so idk. Hopefully you’ll make it though!

thank you everyone for chancing. i am using CC mobile, so i will chance others back when i get on my computer!

Brown- low reach
Case Western- in
Columbia- low reach
MIT- low reach
Northeastern- in
RIT- match
RPI- match
SUNY Buffalo- in
UPittsburgh- in

You some very impressive stats, unfortunately SATs are a bit low for the ivies and MIT. Your lack of leadership positions will also hurt, but i’m sure your class rank combined with your GPA and URM status will pull your application up. Good luck and thanks for the chance!

Brown - reach
Case Western - don’t know enough to chance, sorry!
Columbia - reach
MIT - reach
Northeastern - in
RIT - match
RPI - match
SUNY Buffalo - match
UPittsburgh - in

You’re URM status will help you and you have pretty decent stats. I’m sure you have an excellent excellent chance at one of those schools. Good Luck!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/836783-chance-uva-jmu-w-m-tech-will-chance-back.html

I say you are in to most of them. MIT probably not.

What is more important than in/not in is which one of them will give you the best scholarships.

Ach. Those SAT scores aren’t going to help you, buddy. Especially not at MIT.
However, you have a great shot at the rest of the schools you’re applying to, with the exceptions of Brown and Columbia. Being a URM does help (I should know, I guess), but ultimately, that may not be the crucial factor in determining your acceptance. I have a relative who went to MIT (URM, Inner-city school, immigrant, <$60K bracket), but he had a lot of leadership and sports, not to mention the ridiculous 1580/2320 SAT. It’s good that you participated in a lot of things, but the lack of leadership is going to hurt. Hopefully, your recs and your hook (I thought the fact that you’re a twin was cool ) will counterbalance that.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 is most likely in):

Brown: 4
Columbia: 4
MIT: 3
Northeastern: 7
RIT: 10
RPI: 10
SUNY Buffalo: 8
UPittsburgh: 10 (btw, is this a safety?)

[Chance a worried AA Female! :D](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/827713-chance-aa-female-georgetown-american-howard-hamptons-uchicago-others.html)

btw, thanks for the chance!!
Have a Happy New Year.

^^ While my SATs may not be the highest, my ACT is pretty good…
Thanks for the chance, and Happy New Year to you too!

Oopsie. I forgot to factor those ACTs in, sorry.
In that case, then:

Brown & Columbia: 6.5
MIT: 5.5

The rest, though, are pretty much a shoo-in. If you didn’t get in, I would be shocked. Good luck!

thanks for the chances! i will chance you guys back later today, if i havent already. (using cc mobile atm)

i’d say send in ur ACT’s and youll probz have the best chance…nice rank

Brown-reach (as for everyone)
Case Western-match
Columbia-low reach
MIT-reach…as long as u show some passion…they like that
Northeastern-match
RIT-match
RPI-match
SUNY Buffalo-match
UPittsburgh-match

Surprise, an IB student in the US, right on man!!
Brown-reach
Case Western-in
Columbia-reach
MIT-high reach (want very high SAT2 Scores)
Northeastern-match
RIT-match
RPI-in (no doubt)
SUNY Buffalo-in
UPittsburgh-in

If I were you, I would have applied to more prestigious schools (if that’s what you wanted). I think both you and the people in this thread have underestimated the power of URM status. None of those look like reaches except for MIT. But I would not at all be surprised if you got in there too, because URM status tends to be weighted most heavily at the elite tech school because so few URM’s apply.

Yep, being a URM helps you. You said you wrote killer essays, so that may be the tipping point!

Brown - Moderate Reach
Case Western - In
Columbia - Reach (A little tougher than Brown, but URM really helps here)
MIT - High Reach… It’ll be tough
Northeastern - In
RIT - In
RPI - In
SUNY Buffalo - In
UPittsburgh - In

@james098- i couldnt really apply to more elite schools because i didnt know my act was going to be 97th percentile. also with a twin applying to college, i kinda had to limit myself because i wasnt eligible for fee waivers (income is allegedly to high).

I agree with everyone else. You have a pretty good chance at all the schools with MIT being the toughest. Good luck!

thanks for the chance.
being a urm will help a lot at the ivies! cool ecs and a courseload that speaks for itself. you obviously are interested in bio-stuff and your ecs have made you a very complete package, and therefore a very good candidate.
I only know about the ivies (which are a reach for anyone, but you have a shot!)
MIT- your scores might kill you here. send in your act.
northeastern is a safety, and you’ll probably get scholarships and honors.
good luck :)

Brown - Mid Reach
Case Western - Match
Columbia - Reach
MIT - Reach
Northeastern - In
RIT - Low Match
RPI - Low Match
SUNY Buffalo - Safety
UPittsburgh - Safety

UPDATE! I JUST received my acceptance letter to the University of Pittsburgh!
