<p>GPA: 3.35 W. It's very low because of the first semester of my freshman year. I submitted a legit extenuating circumstances explanation in my CommonApp. </p>
<p>SAT's: 690CR/690W/640M</p>
<p>AP's: 7 taken over high school career. 2 college math courses (college algebra, college trig). Basically, my course load is challenging. 2 honors courses as well. </p>
<p>EC's: -Editor-In-Chief of Newspaper, 10-12
-Captain of Speech and Debate team. Went to state 2/2 years, lettered 2/2 years. 10-12
-Peer Mentor and tutor 12
-Link Crew Leader 11-12
-Founding Member of National Art Honor Society, designed/painted 2 murals. 11-12
-Principal Organizer of hygeine drive for battered womens shelter, ongoing, 12.
-Educated elementary schoolers on water conservation, student ambassador 10-11
-Shadowed local senator and volunteered for her campaign, 12
-Work part time as a waitress, 15 hrs/wk, 11-12
-Internship with local top photography studio, 12</p>
<p>Recommendations were pretty much glowing. Very sincere. </p>
<p>I applied to Steinhardt for Public Health, EDII.</p>
<p>Since the deadline is passed I would be willing to let you evaluate my essays (I would actually really appreciate that) for NYU. </p>
<p>It shows the GPA and test scores of hundreds of students who applied to NYU (although not specifically Steinhardt), and whether they were accepted or not.</p>
<p>You can see that your GPA is on the low side in comparison to students who were accepted. However, your test scores are in the ballpark, so it doesn’t look like it’s out of the question for you to be accepted. </p>
<p>If your GPA from tenth grade on is higher, and demonstrates an upward trend that continues into your senior year, your freshman grades won’t matter as much. If that’s the case, I think your chances are better than “poor”, more in the maybe range.</p>
