<p>I am currently a high school senior! (Female Caucasian)
-My weighted GPA is a 3.41 (it is lower at the school I currently attend because they weight GPA's differently than my previous school; it would have been around a 3.8 if I still went there)
- ACT Composite: 33 (35 English, 33 Reading, 31 Math, 32 Science, 10 Writing)
- I've taken mostly honors courses, as well as a few AP's (my current school does not have AP's)
- AP Euro sophomore year (4), AP US and AP Lang the first semester of junior year.
- I am very involved in theatre and choir at my high school, and outside of school.
- I volunteer at a local animal shelter, and previously volunteered at a senior citizens center.<br>
- I am also a peer tutor at my school, and involved in many clubs.
- I have done two precollege summer programs (Boston University Summer Theatre Institute 2013 and American University Discover the World of Communications 2014)
- Senior Year Classes: Honors Calc A, Honors English, Honors Spanish 5, Physics, Art History (seniors don't have any honors history options), and Drama </p>
<p>At my first high school (which I attended freshman - 1st semester junior year) I was very unhappy, and my grades began declining because my school was very quickly going downhill. In December of junior year, I decided to switch schools, where my grades quickly rose from B's and a few C's to straight A's. My main common app essay is about my decision to switch schools and describes my unhappiness, and also provides reason as to why my grades were lower at my first school (for example, I got a 4 on the AP Euro Test, but a C in the class because the class was not not very good)</p>
<p>I want to apply Early Decision to Steinhardt's Media, Culture, and Communications program, but I also put that I would like to be considered for Liberal Studies if I'm not admitted to Steinhardt. If anyone could chance me, I would appreciate it a ton. </p>
<p>Bump!! (Also, my other top schools are George Washington, Boston University, and American), so if anyone wants to chance me at those schools it would also be a great help!!! </p>
<p>For NYU…im going to be straight up honest with you, the gpa is kindaaa low but it doesnt kill your chances. You did great on your ACT which will help as well as you EC’s which are also pretty impressive. Also your major is pretty small compared to buisness at NYU. I would say you still have a shot!!! </p>
<p>@DiscipulusBonus my school only gives us our weighted (but our Naviance does show that the average accepted weighted GPA from my school was around a 3.75 with an average act of 26) but I know that at my previous school, which calculated GPAs differently, it was around a 3.3 but it would be higher now since last semester I got straight A’s. </p>

<p>I think that you have a good shot because of your extracurriculars and ACT score. Your GPA is pretty low, however you do have a reason. Just make sure that you do have a solid reason for it and hopefully that’ll kind of alleviate your application from a low GPA. Good Luck! :)</p>
<p>Your ACT score will carry you through the application, especially because your strong reading and English scores correlate with communications. Your GPA really is weak, but if you apply ED, it should remedy the problems you’re having. Obviously I’m not on NYU’s admissions board, but you certainly have a good shot. </p>
<p>I really do think you have a good shot because of your plethora of ECs and your standardized test scores… Your GPA may be a little low but I feel the admissions board will let it slide provided you give a good explanation (just don’t sound like a quitter and make it more inspirational) other than that you’re honesty golden!</p>

<p>I think you have a real shot considering your commitment to theatre and high act score
Though your GPA is a bit low, it should improve with straight A’s but if you can REALLY explain that well I think you’ll be a shoo-in</p>
<p>Early decision is a good thing but I think i that the GPA is a little low. But, if explained well to colleges why this is, I think you have a chance!</p>
