Chance an Average Kid

Any others want to chance me?

Your choices seem like really good fits for you, there’s a nice range of safeties, realistics, and reaches. I think that if your recs and essays are solid (especially the one explaining your suspension, that’s probably the most important one), you should have absolutely no problem getting into a good school. Good Luck!

Thanks. Which ones are safeties? I didn’t think I had any besides Truman State.

I think that your only reaches are Skidmore, Oberlin, Lawrence, and Kenyon. But they arent high reaches. But hey, if you write great admissions essays or apply ED i dont think any of those are gonna be way out of your reach

Like the others, can’t say that I’m too familiar with many of the colleges.
I’ll chance on the ones I’m familiar with, and make guesses on the ones that I’m less familiar with, though.

Illinois Wesleyan University - Probably In. Your stats definitely fit the profile.
Lawrence University - Probably in. The rigor of your courses and school definitely helps, but your GPA is slightly lower than the average kid at Lawrence. However, your standardized tests are definitely above average.
Oberlin College - Low Chance. Your SATs are on the low side. ECs aren’t as strong.

Really my ECs aren’t strong? I was hoping being a leader in a couple of things would be good…

I probably should have rephrased. It’s not so much as strong, but as it doesn’t stand out so much. You will be captain senior year and have founded the Alcohol Prevention Team, but there are also many people applying to Oberlin who are also captain(s) of sports teams and lead a club/group. Also, you haven’t one of the leadership positions for very long. Your ECs are all right, but not /spectacular/.

I think you can still get into Oberlin, but keep in mind that there’s a lot of people applying to Oberlin who also have the same stats as yours, or better.

I like to be harshly-realistic, so I tend to be a bit more critical. Have lots of optimism, though :)!

Btw, oberlin’s a pretty popular college application choice for my school, and I’ve seen many people rejected even same or better stats as yours. This observation on my part factored into my assessment. I can’t say for its accuracy, but just wanted to throw that out there.

Any others?

More chances

Bump 10char

Whenever I make a topic on CD nobody ever responds.

Sometimes I wonder if college discussion hates me…

You are probably in at all of them with the possible exception of Kenyon and Oberlin.

I think Truman will accept you.

I applied to Kalamazoo College and 3 other private schools in Michigan this year. I had a 3.33 gpa, 28 ACT, and didn’t take the SAT. I had a moderate amount of extra-curricular activities and volunteer work.

I was accepted to all four colleges, and received scholarships from each one.

If I could do that, you can for sure get into Kalamazoo with your scores. The only thing that might hold you back is the suspension, however you have demonstrated maturity in the fact that you learned from your mistakes and have taken steps to prevent it from reoccurring.

Good luck
