Hi everyone! Brown is my first choice school, but I realize I’m probably a bit weak for it. I figured I’d get someone else’s opinion.
Race: White
Gender: Female
School Type: Public early college. (this next part is copy/pasted from an earlier thread) I’ll be graduating with a high school diploma and a complete A.A. degree. The first two years at my school are entirely devoted to completing the high school requirements, and the second two years are all college classes. As such, our high school grades are out of 95 (kind of; our school doesn’t give A+'s) and our college grades are out of 4.0. The college gpa is the one listed on the common app, but the high school transcript is sent in as well along with the school profile. The school is world-renowned and EXTREMELY rigorous. I’m sure you’re sick of hearing that last sentence on this forum, so I’m now going to apologize for typing it. I’m sorry. I’m very sorry.
According to data from last year’s graduating class, ~80% of the students in the college program had gpas of below 3.5, with the majority being between 3.0-3.5. Top 10% is probably around 3.7-3.8. No one really gets higher than a 3.9, though I know of one or two. They’re going to be the ones getting in here, tbh.
SAT I: 2230, 1450 CR+M
SAT II: 780 Lit, 700 Bio, and a low World History I’m not submitting
HS (9th+10th) GPA: 90.58 (Edited from a previous post because of an error. However, this is the weakest part of my application because I got a few /bad/ grades in these 2 years.)
College GPA: 3.72 (steady upward trend!)
Senior year course load: Immunology, Calc 2, Latin of Virgil, Sophomore Seminar, Gothic Literature, Advanced Painting
Recs: From my counselor (who I’m super tight with), my first year seminar teacher, my biology teacher, and my painting teacher
Extracurriculars: Painting (my main activity), violin (private lessons and chamber group), babysitting, working/volunteering with youth musical theatre organizations, editor-in-chief of school art magazine, executive design editor of yearbook, founding member of sci-fi appreciation club, summer intensive art programs, heavily involved in school activism network (including hosting a student-led discussion during a school-wide conference on racism), set design for school plays, and various writing-and-comedy-related hobbies that are difficult to put on paper.
Essay: I’m working on it haha. At the very least, trust that it will be well-written!
I’m also going to be sending in my art as a supplementary portfolio.
I know I’m not a perfect applicant, but honestly I’m going to apply no matter what is said in this thread. I just want to know what to expect.
Thank you!
