Hi.
The stats:
I was born in Ecuador to an American mother and Ecuadorian father, and came to the U.S. at the plump age of three. Accordingly, and unfortunately, my friends derive great pleasure from calling me a "hybrid".

My passions are science research and good deals, making Rice my top choice. As far as research experience, I worked in a Duke eco-toxicology lab for seven weeks last summer, and the summer before that, I did very basic research during a Duke TIP tropical biology program in Costa Rica. I've also maintained a side interest in engineering, and have taken two college-level engineering courses at my high school.

So, here are the schools I am currently contemplating:
1. Rice
2. UNC-CH (I'm in-state)
3. University of Chicago
4. Harvey Mudd
5. Duke
6. Cornell
7. Hendrix
8. UNC-Asheville

I would appreciate others' opinions on my chances at some of these schools, and whether I need to find more "match" schools, as I know that at least half are reaches. Thanks a lot.
