Good chance? tips?

bump, please even if you don’t know what IB is; imagine they are AP. Do I have a chance?

You have a chance definitely but I would suggest ED since you are unhooked

Thank you! I am planning to apply ED next year but I am concerned that ED is binding at Cornell and I am not sure if I will be able to afford it, so I want to look at other schools too…

Tbh, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t get in. You’re definitely qualified. If I were you, I would take the ACT again to raise your score and I would take a few science SAT II’s especially with the major you’re looking at.

^I would suggest taking the ACTs again if you are going to apply RD - don’t need SAT IIs though because ACTs should cover it.

I am taking the ACT again tomorrow, so I hope to get a 33. However, isn’t a 32 about average for Cornell? I was thinking their mean was 31-33. Thanks for the tips! I am also looking at Michigan State, OSU (safeties), UC Davis, and some others.

And, I am planning to go to Cornell’s summer college program this summer, so if I can get a rec from a professor (of the Small Animal Vet program), will I have a much better chance?

Yes that may be average for enrolled students (across all sorts of majors), but may not be for admitted students. Also, do you want an average chance or a good chance? Think about that.

I don’t think that thing that you do over summer should be done just to get into Cornell but just as something you want to do - to learn. I am not sure exactly how much that can help you. Unless you become very close with the professor, I would not recommend that. If he truly knows you well to write you a thoughtful rec though, it should be fine.

I’m not doing summer college just to get into Cornell by any means. I am genuinely interested by what their program has to offer over others. I have heard it is pretty normal to get a rec from a prof though. But thanks for the advice! I took the ACT today and think I might be at a 33 now. I thought the science section (that brought me down before with a 28 :/) was a lot easier and I practiced more. Any other colleges I should be looking at? Thanks

well if you aren’t EDing you should probably be able to apply everywhere RD - you might want to look into colleges with a good bio program.

If the ED financial aid offer is insufficient to support attendance, you can decline it without penalty. Here is the Common Application rule:
