Put Black and you should get into all of them

But I’m Asian and don’t look African-American in the slightest. I’d get caught at the interview. Not to mention I wouldn’t want that hanging over my head.

You’ll only get caught at the schools you have to do interviews at  Why would it hang over your head?(Life is just a game anyways)

Once I was in, they could always go back and look at my application and then realize that I lied…

Or if I become a politician later in life, it will be found out. Even if the chances were good that I wouldn’t get caught, it just isn’t worth betting your whole life.

I understand compatriot, just decline to report :D

Are you going to do it?

^ Well I am black… sooo Yep :D

Anyone else? ):

Yeah, you really need to right good essays if you want to have a chance of getting in. Unless you emphasize something unique you do or some unique quality you have, I’d venture to say you won’t get in. I’m sorry to be so blunt, but there are tons of people with higher sat scores than you and similar AP/natl merit credentials, and the very top colleges don’t even consider that stuff in their final decision. So yeah, start working on those essays ASAP.

So in terms of chances, I’d say ~5% at HYPSCD&penn, but since uchicago is a little less selective (they do take purely smart people w/o too much of the whole admissions game), you should get in there.

its disappointing when you say that your essays are going to be average, because that is one aspect of the application that you have total control over. your essays are as good as the effort you put into them, so put a lot of work in and that will help. otherwise, i would say that your lack of leadership and originality will hurt your chances. you have good grades, so that will help, but try and think about how you are going to position yourself in the way that you represent yourself to colleges. at the moment, you seem to be going for the laundry list of various activities, which isn’t going to help you much. i hate to list percent chance, because people on CC are only giving their honest opinion, and I don’t pretend to know how these processes work. anyway, i’d say that your chances are on the low side (high reach) for the ivies and stanford, but you have a better shot at Uchicago due to the rigor of your course load and your test scores.

chance me!

^^
Well, I am going to put a lot of work into my essays, but they’ll still be average due to the quality of writing from other applicants.

What if I get my SAT up to 2300?

I have been thinking about saying I’m black and only applying to schools w/o interviews.

It will help you if you get your sat’s to 2300 (provided your section scores are roughly equal), but it still definitely won’t be enough to get you in if you don’t write amazing essays and have outstanding recs. If you really want to reach the top, you have to give them a reason to accept you; you have to differentiate yourself from the other 10000 2300+ sat people.
